The writing is on the wall 😅

Yes, a step in the right direction. It's kind of a Web of Trust, which can be very useful for fighting spam etc...
Possible that bot operators hire slaves in 3rd world countries to open accounts... 🤷♂️
Wasn't captcha designed precisely for this use case?
Nostr is superior, it's much more agile and versatile, thanks to the LN integration.
X looks more and more like grand'pa technology.
A larger user base will bring more possibilities and opportunities. Who knows, maybe it'll follow the same évolution as the bitcoin mining industry? And perhaps there'll even be an L2 as well! Ah ah... Why not actually?
Not fair comparison, considering that mastodon has been around for at least a decade.
Software needs time to mature, and nostr clients are not immune to this. Still, the pace of development in this space is phenomenal!
It doesn't make sense to me that you follow more than 1k accounts and still find people boring! You haven't put enough effort in curating your feed, or improving your profile for people of same interests to find you?
What is it tat you find frustrating, if you don't mind me asking?
I completely agree with the *encourage but not require* and it's true we have to normalise talking _openly_ about difficult subjects in a healthy manner.
Actually, anonymity not only protects us from the Almighty State, but also from being ostracised by our peers.
It'd be suicidal to go into an unfair fight without adequate armour.
Why so complicated, when you can just follow someone's account (ideas)? :-)
What you're describing may only be useful in the meatspace, but probably impractical and counterproductive in cyberspace.
That's what Twitter is for, not nostr. :-)
I don't want to sound like I'm nitpicking but Bitcoin is also speech posted in the public square, just like this post. You can't have it both ways.
I subscribe to the idea that people should have the freedom to selectively reveal themselves to the public, this is why I post publicly, but zap anon'ly.
Exactly, imperfect! Hence the need for a TTP. This is not freedom, as most bitcoiners understand it.
Without anon/pseudo/nymity there is no freedom because you are constantly at the mercy of an unfairly stronger opponent.
This is why Bitcoin severs the link between the reputation and the "real" person, but attaches it to its speech instead. Restoring this link, what you are advocating for, is undoing Satoshi's work.
How do I know for sure that you are the one you claim to be (the "real" you), without having to rely a trusted third party?
Asking genuinely.
I think an account is always connected to an identity, Chris, it's just that it's not revealed to you, the reader.
Also, anons have skin-in-the-game, the reputation of their pseudonymous accounts. This, with the quality of the arguments and ideas expressed, should matter, not the person who makes the argument.
LOL. You should reconsider. I can feel how my back/posture are being fixed in realtime, as I write this. It's unbelievable!
"Vivo Barefoot" I got them on Amazon.
I'm trying barefoot shoes for the first time, and my whole back, chest, shoulders, and shoulder blades etc are realigning in ways I had never thought would be possible. It's amazing!
