Weirdly, I have a hard time myself thinking where people see this so close association between Nostr and Bitcoin. I rarely see Bitcoin content on my feed (but maybe I'm so used to it it became invisible). The only two things I can think of are:

- the marketing around zaps, many Nostr introductions talk about zaps almost at the headline.

- the automatic "trending" or "global" feeds that clients throw into new users' faces.

I'm not even saying we're doing something wrong, I just don't know what to do about it.

It's doubly sad that we're the network of Bitcoiners and we don't even have any relevant Bitcoin discussion? Or do we?

Not saying X has anything relevant either, but I imagine many Bitcoiners are still discussing their useless covenants there every day like they were doing 4 years ago.

If we are being honest no true discussion takes place here. Where people actually talk back and forth.

It’s not limited to nostr. On all these news feed based social platforms an author makes a post, people respond with a comment. Maybe the the OP responds to a couple of them. And then it’s all gone, it’s an ephemeral broadcast platform.

It’s why after all these years I still get more educational value out of places like hacker news, where you don’t even have to post in order to get value from persistent and consistent threaded discussions. Since you mentioned Bitcoin, imagine Satoshi trying to maintain a coherent conversation on Primal or Damus.

I'm hoping some well organized forum type thing comes along soon to ameliorate that. Feels like it's in the making now from stuff I'm seeing

The association does not have to be close; it is a matter of heuristics, so even the slightest hint of suggestion of a possible association is more than enough.

Most of the external Nostr information sources are tightly tied to bitcoin content, either by the creator or the publication platform. Zap talk is only the tip of the iceberg.

There is a lot of bitcoin content on Nostr, mostly philosophical takes and memes, both in "trending" and out among the rest of us. When you get into "global" there are many bots posting various bitcoin stats & whatnot.

Better default relays. More Nostr-dedicated information sources. That's a couple obvious paths. It might take a lot of effort from many people to break the stigma. I believe it can be done, though.

On a happier note: Searching the playstore and "googling" Nostr has gotten 100x better recently. That's huge.
