They are the same as any exchange regarding how it works, the only difference is the don’t do shitcoins & don’t have a sell option. That’s basically it 😆

The one thing that is hard to find elsewhere (which I don’t understand why this isn’t more common) is the automatic withdrawals.

Otherwise the banking & custodian side of the entire industry is horribly centralized with extremely few options. There was a great piece I covered like 3ish years ago (I’m gonna try and find it) about how bad the chokepoints are with how everyone uses like the same 2 banks and custodians.

Swan isn’t super special in either direction. They just took out the shitcoins, the trading, and the charts to offer something simple for people who only want to stack. nostr:note14trn5350ldpuj5e3t3jsunfar2zjqt2h4h5tsss0547k5cjwg7kqjdzjuw

But..But..they have Pacific Bitcoin where you get to play volley ball and eat BBQ with Bitcoin "superstars"

Lol, I mean that’s whatever. It was a fun conference last year and it was cool to see everybody. I’m more of a “always gonna make it to BitBlockBoom” guy though.

Swan is like nickelback.

Not great, but certainly not that bad. People just like to hate on them.

HAHAhaha 🤣

I don’t understand why he’s so mad and Swan. I don’t know about all the marketing stuff he mentioned but I do know it’s just a simple exchange. Bitcoin only which I respect and the auto withdrawal is nice. That’s all I’ll ever need so it’s perfect for me.

I get it. And that was a pretty aggressive post by someone who might have an agenda. I’ll tell you why I don’t use Swan Bitcoin, because the sales team is terrible and the customer service sucks. I DM’ed a couple podcasters, like they tell me to on every show, and never got a response. Then I filled out the contact form on the website and no one responded. I attempted to contact a few more times and finally gave up. Then about a month later some random salesman emailed me and asked me to set an appointment on his calendar. When we finally talked he didn’t know about any products and told me to reach out to someone else. After a couple of attempts to contact again, I gave up again. Then sometime later I got a random marketing email that eventually led to a phone call with another poorly trained salesperson.

A company’s sales force is a representation of its functional and organizational capabilities. Im not going to transfer my Roth IRA to such a poorly organized company.

The marketing is great but whoever is running the salespeople is doing a terrible job.

That’s interesting, I’ve only heard of people who had great experiences with their support and they have a pretty huge team dedicated to just hands in working with customers. I’m sure they went through growing pains there however so maybe you landed at the wrong time where they were overwhelmed and understaffed for it.

I hope you didn’t message me and I missed it 😅

I try really hard to answer all of my messages but I never get them all.

I've never used them because I don't really want to sign up with another KYC'd exchange, but River seems to be a full step better than Swan.

River is pretty solid too. And limiting the number of KYC services is important practice. It’s easy to forget that even signing up for something is making you vulnerable, even if you don’t use it.

It’s a particular pain ping for me because I’m constantly signing up for stuff to test and try out services because I feel obligated to have some knowledge of them. But I know it’s terrible practice from an OpSec point of view. Hard to get around though with what I do. Best for people to avoid whenever possible

River is outstanding. I made the switch at the first of the year. It took them a while to add automatic withdrawals, but with that in place, I see them as setting the bar.

My Bitcoin company stack def has them in it.

For the KYC bitcoin buying options my high value list includes @Swan nostr:npub1xkere5pd94672h8w8r77uf4ustcazhfujkqgqzcykrdzakm4zl4qeud0en @FoldApp @Strike nostr:npub1t289s8ck5qfwynf2vsq49t2kypvvkpj7rhegayrur0ag9s2sezaqgunkzs @AmberApp nostr:npub1cashappn03s3cl2ljsdntv0v28e2um5lgx4vjctqjt23pcwzjhsqmtdg5l (in no particular order)

I’m exploring Robosats as a new identity safe option, but embarrassed to say that I haven’t taken the time yet to explore it.

We need more people to use robosats, bisq, vexl, P2P groups on Signal or similar! Without that all bitcoin is soon going to be regulated to hell...

Hey Guy, what is the most user friendly #Bitcoin only payments processor?
