šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø EX-GOOGLE BOSS: AI WILL REPLACE MOST PROGRAMMERS IN A YEAR—SUPERINTELLIGENCE COULD ARRIVE IN SIX

Former Google CEO, Eric Schmidt:

"We believe that in the next year, the vast majority of programmers will be replaced by AI.

Within three to five years, we’ll see AGI—systems as smart as the best humans.

And in six years, artificial superintelligence—smarter than all of us combined.

This is happening fast, and society isn’t ready."

Now combine super intelligence with robots. What does that economy even look like?

How can this be a good thing for the economy with displacing so many programmers? This affects more than just programmers though.

Programmers are just people who build things with computers and code. They will not be replaced, they will be augmented the same as an engineer with a graphing calculator or modeling program who previously had to do all calculations by pencil and paper.

People always seem to think ā€œthis time is differentā€ with technology even though when we look back in history this has happened a thousand times and every single time the people were saying ā€œthis time is different.ā€ Jevons paradox holds true, when things are easier to create, we just demand an order of magnitude more of that thing.

Spot on. The AI maximalist cult sounds crazier every time I hear them speak. Their message is so detached from reality that it makes you wonder if they truely believe it or are propaganda puppets šŸ¤”

it pumps the stock price

simple as that

It’ll all come to bear when the ancient aliens come back to turn the Sphinx back on.

So true. Can’t tell you how many people tell me I’ll get replaced by robotics in the next 5 years 🤣 I’m the one holding the nail gun, and whatever invention comes out next, you can bet your ass I’ll be the one wielding that too!

Sometimes it is more true than others.

I am not saying ALL coders will loose their job but a huge quantity of them will be concern. The same for lawyer, and any job that is not "manual"...

Why ?

Because it will do a better job than a coder. Not a perfect one. Not a controlled one, but a work that your boss will consider enough acceptable to replace you.

And it is all that matter for business.

I remember, a long time ago, when i had told about security issues when it was not so "fashion" to talk about it. The answer was : "it is just useless to think about it, we will not put any money for theses issues". We know now security of software are very important in a world of hacking, piracy, cyberattacks... The same people would pay for it now they understand the risk.

AI will be used because it will be easy, faster, no resistance, no vacancy... the perfect "employee".

This will seems perfect for boss. But only at the beginning, and why ?

Because the code and action really done by the AI will not be really release in control. It will be a problem for security, and no control of what is really happening in the code.

Facts are here. AI is really growing fast, and not for good reason even if it is what is showed to us with the ghibli picture, or starter pack fun.

You can't say it will just be a tool, it means you don't see how fast it grow.

It will do a better optimized code than you do, play chess better than anyone, translate a huge document in a minute, generate an ads video in few minutes.

It will not be perfect, and "bug" free, but it will be enough for your manager to replace you with it.

I am not so "optimist" about the deadlines, a year is short for this change. But you can be sure it will happen.

The only job that will be free is improving the "interface" between human and AI, like feeding AI, add some rules / limits, try to "control" it.

The jobs that will remain for humans will be the ones that computer can't do at a low cost of resources or energy.

And in past they are example of things that have really changed some jobs :

- Tickets validator in public transport

- All administration job that have been replace with computers

Here i am not talking about the funny AI companion that some have probably tested to display a part of code and help coder in their task.

I am talking about AI where you describe your project and it build it, you can rectify it just by chatting with it. This behavior already exist even if for code it is not perfect nowadays, it will be soon.

Where do you think you could be useful in this future process when it will be 100% up ?

We could also do an analogy with bitcoin in 2009 what would people say about BITCOIN that year ? just a shitty ponzi pyramid.

You know what it is now.

I am not AI maximalist, i just watch the progress AI do day after day, and it is not a fiction to imagine it more performant than we can be.

But of course it is only my point of view.

I'm better than ai

bring it on lfg

I guess we all due or retire in 6 years. I know one thing Bitcoin will still be valuable.

Gboard censoring me **Die**

🤣🤣🤣

We really should have a plan - for this decade. The future is wild.

I don't buy it. Right now, AI is a sort of 'average' of everything on the Internet. I don't see how you get exceptional by being really good at being average.
