I’m happy to have zapped more that I’ve received. I try to ϟ every day. I’m definitely more of a consumer than a creator. Zaps make nostr fun and give value where value is due. Zaps used to be more plentiful.
We need to up those zap numbers, especially for the newcomers that are bringing value to nostr.

I don't think of NOSTR as content creators and consumers. For me, this concept has already been overcome and proven not to be functional in the long term.
I see NOSTR as interaction between people, some seeking help or opinions and others helping and giving opinions. ZAPs come from this interaction; those who help receive ZAPs and those who receive help make ZAPs. Therefore, more ZAPs were made than received, and clearly more people were helped than they helped, which is a good thing because many of their questions were clarified.
I agree with your point of view. There are multiple levels of value here on nostr, whether it’s an informative article, someone’s personal thoughts or help setting up a wallet. Allie can be given in many ways.
At the moment I don't think that as a content creator your goal should be to recieve do zaps. Zaps are more a symbolic apreciation of a post and a loving gesture. If your goal is to make money, other platforms might be a better choice at the moment. Participation and interaction in this new social media concept of #Nostr is fun though, especially if you don't use X, FB, TT or YT. Some are here because they got banned there.

Not really a creator, just won one time a sats giveaway before getting completely rugpulled by the custodial lightning wallet provider I used which resulted in a total loss. Had to change the wallet, but oddly enough the total amount of recieved but rugpulled sats is still shown.
It’s not really the best metric though because influencers will continue to receive a hugely outsized portion of zaps, even if in many cases they produce less than other creators on nostr. In the end all that seems to matter is # of followers rather than quality of content created.
I agree with the first part, my point is people need to zap more. It keeps nostr more entertaining and different from the others.
As far as followers go, I much prefer honest genuine conversations and content to follower count. Follower count is overrated and a trash metric when there’s no quality.
Quality>quantity in my opinion.
Yeah not saying that follower count is a good metric, but simply that the biggest accounts are always going to get the most zaps, no matter what kind of content they put out.
