Except that when the touch sensor fails (which happens), there's nothing you can do about it.

Not if you save your seed phrase 🙂

With this feature, you can back up your seed phrase upon generation and port into another device if your touch sensor fails.

So, depending on the number of your keys, you potentially have up to five seed phrases to backup?

Huh? How does this work? Yubikey entropy is hard coded when manufactured, you can't just import seed words.

Doesn’t this weaken protection against the evil maid scenario since a yubi does not have pin protection like hardware wallets?

ah sorry. I didn't want to zap you. I was falling asleep and tapped on the zap button 🥱⚡

and then I realized I zapped you and wanted to unzap and then I accidentally zapped you again

You can use a PIN with this YubiKey feature.

How is this different than a Tapsigner?

YubiKeys are a form of security keys, a device you can use for multi-factor authentication in other parts of your digital life.

Which Series of Yubico yubikeya are compatible?

But it's closed source

I prefer not using a wallet that support ordinal shitcoins.

Maybe I didn't understand this correctly, but from what I understand, you're moving a seed phrase from a computer to an yubikey... which means you may already be compromised given the seed was on the computer. I thought best practice was to never enter a seed phrase onto electronic devices.

I'm probably wrong...

Great point. This comes down to your security model, and it's part of why we use multiple keys and devices to make your vault more robust.

Some members may not need total air-gapped cold generation, storage, and signing for every key. Others can't grok hardware wallets. This feature provides a simple alternative to a hardware wallet that is more secure than your phone.

We see this feature as bridging the gap between your phone and your hardware wallet. Instead of a hot key or cold key, consider it a "cool key." 😎
