I always thought pro free speech and anti-govt and anti-war was liberal, and so I would say that I'm liberal.

When did this change

Liberal like all the great β€œliberators”

It still is liberal. Don’t confuse it with a major political party, because principles aren’t borne by any.

I dont know it it has changed in the sense there is a consensus around the language and meaning, but rather a malware has been installed in the minds of many altering the code relating to such labels on their OS’ and creating a ton of confusion

Classical liberalism. the Overton window has shifted so far to the left that we are now on the right.

I don't think it changed, those things are still essentially liberal principles, It's just the politicians who claim to be liberal are lying or at best misrepresenting what liberalism is.

Labels create fungible humans. Be the NFT your partner thinks you are.

Liberals are gross, weak, nazi funders. Ex. Gropey Joe.

Be Left instead. Elon and the Zuck have had us deboosted for years. Imo of course.

independent > make it happen

The term liberal has been co-oped by the far left socialist marxist idiology.

The correct term for what you describe is now called a Classical Liberal, or libertarian (small L not the political shit show of the current Libertarian Party in the US.)

The United States was founded on classical liberal ideas of Adam Smith, John Locke and others.

It’s actually the liberals that co-opted the far left terms and rhetoric. Not the other way around. There are no Marxist or socialist liberals. They use it as a rhetorical mask. Same way there aren’t many real capitalists in corporate America, they are mostly bureaucrats who call themselves capitalists

It is liberal. In the macro, the spectrum of politics in the US is classically liberal.

It's liberal vs classic liberal

That's why I never say I'm an xyz, because those labels change their meaning over time, being coopted or just morphed over the years, and they also tend to put you in a "camp" of people you wouldn't necessarily want to be closely associated with. Instead, I just say what I think

Have you seen this video explaining the true right / left type of government? We have been propagandized by the uniparty of the Rich Men North of Richmond to keep us divided and thus controlled with a resemblance of being able to choose our rulers. Today is nothing like the ideals that the founders envisioned

I'm for whatever decentralizes power.

This book has some interesting theories on that. In my humble opinion.

Sowell is the 🐐

I think so also! πŸ’ͺ✌️

Citizens united

Nah started in 2008.

The liberals were never actually against war, just wars they didn’t start themselves.

It’s the left that believes those things. Not liberals

It's actually neither... Lol

Who is the β€œleft” your are talking about here? If you mean AOC you are ridiculously wrong

You are obviously not in tune with what the modern "left" thinks...

You didn’t answer my question πŸ˜‚

AOC is the left. Establishment Democrats are the left.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

What do they do that is β€œleft”?

Are you not aware of how this spectrum works? They all are stomach proponents of socialism. That's to the left of center. Like all the way left.

Again, you didn’t answer my question lol

They are rhetorical socialists at best, then they abandon it as soon as they are elected

Establishment Dems are corporatist fascists. And to be honest I would lump communists and Marxists into the corporatist camp too because there is very little difference between them and the other corporatists across the political aisle.

Communists and Marx is Left... To each according to their needs crap. That's the modern left. That's what they want.

Marx’s actual thought is Left, and I think honestly adjacent to Bitcoin but we can discuss that a different time and others can feel free to yell at me here if they want πŸ˜‚

The β€œMarxist” ideology that spread from his thought was not Left. Communism is definitely not Left, especially the Stalinist strains. Stalinism was a right wing (basically fascist) counterrevolution against the emergence of decentralized peasant revolution in what would become the USSR.

All of their rhetoric was from the β€œLeft” or what we call the β€œLeft” now. Almost none of their actions supported their rhetoric. Just like the establishment Dems in my opinion.

And I threw this quote up in a note yesterday in response to one of nostr:npub1t3ggcd843pnwcu6p4tcsesd02t5jx2aelpvusypu5hk0925nhauqjjl5g4 β€˜s notes but it fits this discussion so I’ll use it again:

β€œBetween the newly ordained Jesuit, the young Marxist, the fresh staff officer, Enarque or MBA, there is no appreciable difference. All five are dominated by method and each of their methods arises from a common source. Appearances suggest that there must be some serious differences among them, since they regularly do battle with each other on behalf of their countries or professions. The differences must lie, therefore, in the content which they subject to their universal method.

Or perhaps their rivalry is the result of their respective interests which, if the ferocity of their battles tells us anything, differ greatly. Yet when you examine these differences or the content involved or even their respective interests, you search in vain for any remarkable contradictions. All that separates them are the positions they occupy. They defend the structural interests assigned to them by their system. And even then, if you remove the screen of ideology, the ends they seek are pretty much of a kind.”

Staunch * not stomach πŸ˜‚

When it stopped being popular. Liberals only get behind what's in vogue. They have no principles, none.

Liberals are supposed to believe in individual freedom. In the West this definition was changed somehow.

Aleksandr Dugin, who is a Russian Satanist that is very close to Putin and created a political agenda called Traditionalism, hates liberals. He was even on Alex Jones talking about how liberals are destroying the world. Jones agreed with him of course, not realizing that Dugin means individual freedom.
