I've been 6 seconds on twitter and already watched a student pepper-spraying her teacher and people arguing about it

I was seeing a lot of those violent videos. Not so much lately. The cruelty bothered me. Especially elderly abuse by workers.
every time i go back on the bluebird app i always see some stupid shit. i got caught up in scrolling videos and i'm pretty sure i saw somebody die that was sandwiched in between memes and stupid cat videos
jesus, that can't be good for anyone's psyche
The bluebird app gave me seeing someone I knew in life’s body being carried through the streets. It was not what I needed right before trying to sleep that night.
In fairness he documented war and he wouldn’t have wanted people to have looked away from the harsh realities of war.
10 more days and my Twitter account deletion will be irreversible. Only thing I miss is some of the big names in the space that post about macro econ topics (Lyn Alden, LL, Foss, Pysh), but not enough to ever go back. I think with their huge followings they can do more good ever there anyway.
Twitter is a cesspool of violence and doom. I have multiple accounts that share nothing but violent crap, that I’m *not even following,* that constantly show up in my feed. And I mean like “every handful of posts one of them shows up” kind of constantly.
That’s so disturbing; we are able to see this and extract ourselves from this vicious dynamic.
But we cannot extract ourselves from a world that is, for the most part, being shaped by interacting with this gruesome content on a daily basis.
Thing is, unless we have a workable solution to content moderation, that will be the experience on Nostr as well. I’ve already gotten a death threat here. It’s why #[4] & I are trying to get a censorship resistant version of content moderation approved (NIPs 68 & 69). Everyone here is so “don’t censor anything”… Until they encounter truly dark content. Some of us just experience it more than others.
