Does anyone have some advice on what to do with an abundance of rotting trees that are too big to fit in my woodchipper?

mushroom farming

I thought about that. All the mushroom spawn sellers are pretty insistent that you should only use fresh cut healthy wood. Is there anything to that?

The point of mushrooms is to rot and dissolve the dead material, so I don't think you need all that fancy fresh wood...

#[5] this is right up your alley.

I'd guess the concern would be look-alikes that volunteered for the wood before the inoculation?

Do you have a guide on how to do this with logs? I’ve been trying to get into this by growing some indoors in substrate, but haven’t tried to inoculate any logs. Are there similar contamination issues?

I am a beginner as well. I tried indoors with ready made kits but it was really small success.

Next I will insert these guys into some fallen branches in the garden.

Good luck!! I may try the same after I get a verdict on the current batch I’m working on

Thanks keep us updated!

Depending on the size of your property, you could make a brush/tree pile for wildlife and to block unwanted trail access.

If you have a backhoe or mini ex, you could build #hugelkultur mounds…
