Ok I have an update on the electric grill.
It definately increases my #steak intake, but it takes quite a while to heat up. It doesent burn the steak, but its hard to grill it without making it well done. This primarily because it never gets that hot, at least the way Im using it. The other downside is that it attracts flies. Not necessarilt when youre not using it, but while youre grilling. Once it gets hot, the flies come from dozens of feet and they go mad around the grill.
I have to say, if youre going the electric route, i advise letting it heat up for atleast 30 or 45 minutes, and start out with your steaks at room temperature. If you dont want it overdone, be sure to use an instant read thermometer because the grill will decieve you, the outside doesent sear well until the inside is medium-well.
The right way to use it is probably cook it on the grill until its about 125F core temperature, then hit it with a torch to sear it.
