Just curious.

Primal users,

Do you have to use their lightning wallet or do you have the option of adding your own for zaps?

I just zap from Damus

Same so that means outside wallet, but for primal-only users, idk if they can

Yeah I’m not sure, I did not want to set up the in app wallet…

Nor do I. I enjoy a functioning zap

You can use NWC to a plethora of other wallets.

I self host alby hub and have it connected to primal and amethyst. Depending on which one I want to use.

Oooookay that’s exactly what I wanted to kno, ty

You're welcome!

You have to use theirs to send on iOS. But you can add a different lighting address in the profile so you receive zaps on a different wallet.

Android might have Nostr Wallet Connect to use a different wallet altogether, not sure!?

Ooooo I didn’t know iOS users were fucked

alby hub with browser extension

Ok cool so there are ways

Don’t think they can. One of the reasons I don’t use primal. They make their UI very easy for new users but at the cost of user control/privacy.

Yeah I look at it as an onboarding client

I mostly use it on the browser, so use Alby extension with my own wallet.

For desktop browser, I use Alby Hub on my Umbrel with Brave extension. So my own lightning wallet. For iOS, Primal wallet. On Damus, you can’t zap at all, so…

You can zap on damus…either zapping profiles or using zap.army to enable the zap button on notes. Just fyi

I often purple pill people by clicking the zap button on comments. Primal does this perfectly. Damus does not. Appreciate the work of Damus, but still… Not having a zap button on notes really takes away one of the coolest features about Nostr. I know it’s Apple fault, but yeah.

On iOS, you are tied to using Primal’s built-in wallet when you want to send zaps (no NWC). I use both Damus and Primal to zap from. Damus on iOS allows easy NWC. I switch between these iOS clients depending on my mood and service status. In either client, you can receive zaps to any LNURL capable lightning wallet address you own (just add it in your profile settings - I flip between using my Primal, Strike, WoS and Coinos addresses for receiving zaps). For a NWC compatible custodian wallet for sending zaps via Damus, I use Coinos. As a side note, your Primal address also doubles as a NIP-05 which I use in Damus too. Means I don’t need to bother with setting up a NIP-05 identifier on my own domain like I used to.

Only Primal wallet

For the longest time that was my primary hot wallet, and I’d use @yakihonne app as my client but then jump to Primal to #zap

Now what I do since YakiHonne has a built in wallet; my receive address across my Nostr Profile is my Primal address, but I sent some sats to myself in the YakiHonne hosted wallet.

So once a week or so I just send myself some more sats to zap…

That keeps me in a single client 99% of the time
