People telling you to not care about what is happening around you, are more likely to be agents than friends.

Spreading apathy to silence opposition.

People always think their stupid opinions matter more than they really do.

Consume!

Fear!

Outrage!

I care about a narrow set of things: things my actions can impact

My actions impact many things. That has always be the case.

That is why I am here. I am here because I know that people giving a damn can change things.

…Unless they’re telling you don’t care just buy bitcoin to save yourself and family and all of those you love…

You don't need people on the Internet, to tell you to only care about yourself and (maybe, some of) your family, and only for the short term. That's most people's default state. Stacking Bitcoin instead of gold or Apple stock, doesn't suddenly turn that into heroic virtue.

But if you are a courageous, productive person, by Nature, and you actually care and try to improve things, and they insist that you _shouldn't_ because wanting to improve things is _wrong_ and _bad_ and proof that you are _insane_ because, obviously, nothing can ever get better and you can never impact your environment or other people, so stop caring and go back to counting your coins and STFU...

Then they're liars. I want to know

WHY ARE THEY LYING? AND FOR WHOM?

If you're as talented as Kirk, go for it. It's an incredible skill.

For people like me, it's a dead end.

Everyone has talents, that they can contribute.

From my POV people "care" only by voting every 4 years. Because when "good" people are elected then I the voter made things better and done enough.

And that's pathetic.

That's also the reason a I value real entrepreneurs and businesses trying to do something. Anything.

I vote, but my voting isn't necessarily more-effective than my other efforts. I do think that it's a way to send a strong collective signal and unnerve lazy and corrupt politicians, as we can see with the AfD.

It is, in the end, the most secure and private poll of the citizenry's opinions. Everyone rules with the consent of the governed, so losing such a poll means their pedestal is crumbling.

I didn't mean to talk about voting as such.

More about ppl expecting (and believing) the government can take care of all things instead of them.

And that leads to those nihilistic tendencies you described.
