I guess I don't really understand the "let's make it easier for everyone" and the "let me hold your hand so you can feel comfortable here" mentality.

Wouldn't you much rather be around people who've earned their way here.. because they were curious, because they wanted something better and not because they were herded like cattle.

Yes

Agree strongly in the big picture. Where is “here” specifically for you though in this case?

Here is Nostr but also applies to new, emerging and developing ideas.

There’s room in the UX/messaging for improvement without going full on hand holding IMO. I’m certain we’re still unknowingly losing out on badass people who don’t have the patience. But I agree, there’s a good filter right now to identify who’s the real fuckin’ deal and who’s not

I agree. Although patience is an excellent virtue to have around.

I like your vlcak friend 🐺 🙂

No i don't agree on this partly. Ok there is no reason to make people lazy but also there is plenty of space etc for curious minds to explore. So there is no reason for elitism either. I think that whatever leads to decentralised adoption, would be nice if it can be deployed smoothly

I don't think there is elitism. There are no qualifications to entry. From a personal perspective, it's what I'd prefer. Same applies to my real life. Nostr isn't for everyone just as much as I'm not for everyone.

It is not about you. It must be, i think, what i have observed in the linux community. Sometimes it is good when there are guides explaining stuff. And some people don't want that because then many more people could use stuff and they don't feel special anymore.

Of course, and there's a lot of value in effort. In simplified form, it's quality over quantity.

interesting that you conflate merit with elitism. very marxist of you.

Marxist? I don't understand what you mean.

this is going to take too long 😂

yeah. Give just a clue, i am curious

it’s permeating everything, everywhere, including the natural world.

make personal responsibility great again!
