seems that the people really do be lovin’ JFK over here
as someone who’s not as familiar with the US history, what makes him stand out so much from all the other presidents?

Participation in the civil rights movement; he was on a course to break rigid societal norms of the time.
He openly sought to steer the nation away from the path that had been established by “the power” to keep power.
He wanted to dismantle the monstrously overgrown intelligence apparatus in the US. Most of it against its own citizenry. I'm honered to be a guest on nostr:npub1shad0wsgr8z2qtd8n5xlg5nh5a2hxz0f3jrcmdgs7zrx9ek9ck4spkf8e8 tomorrow, where we will likely touch on just how fucked up the NSA , the CIA and the FBI were in the late 60's.
He was young. The youngest president in the history of the US.
He was inspiring and honest. He had a great accent. He was a remarkable man that loved the people over the power. 🙏
He was young, good looking, very smart and a great inspirational speaker, and a war hero.. He was relatively conservative in terms of fiscal issues and he believed in sound money. My favorite attribute of his is that he was unapologetically a man of peace (see his 1963 “Peace Speech” at American University, which was a masterpiece). Ultimately though, I think this last attribute is what got him killed. Killed by the same permanent war advocates who still have control over the US government today.
From the little I remember from school, he was charismatic and pretty progressive for his time. He was a supporter of the Civil Rights movement, partly responsible for the passage of the Civil Rights Act. He was committed to an aggressive space program, established the Peace Corps, etc. He also had a messy personal life with multiple extramarital affairs.
His nephew (RFK Jr), who is currently running for president, should not be viewed as the second coming of JFK. They are 2 very different people, which may be a good or bad thing depending on your political beliefs.
