The sense is of "that which has been firmly established," as by fate. Especially "what is to befall any person or thing in the future" (mid-15c.). In Greek and Roman mythology, personified as the three Fates or powers supposed to preside over human life.

Ie relinquishing responsibility

I’d agree with that assessment. When people say give it to God, would be the same?

You know I don’t view the concept of destiny as relinquishing responsibility. Especially since your destiny is a mystery to you as it unfolds.

What purpose does it serve if your action or inaction does not affect the outcome?

How you show up in life is the only thing under your control.

Out of curiosity, are you religious?

Nope.

Ty for sharing your point of view.

Whether or not one believes in fate or destiny will be determined by whether or not one believes things are deterministic or random. I happen to believe the former and it sounds like you believe the latter.

Correct 👍

Exactly, always choose that belief that serves you best.

I’m open to changing my mind all the time if an argument is compelling but so far I haven’t heard any that are - of course I haven’t spent much time on the subject, maybe such arguments already exist.

Well you’re already a fan of determinism as a Bitcoiner haha

I could agree with that

I don’t hold on to any belief dearly. Someone new information and viewpoints present themselves and I’ll consider them.
