This is a regularly scheduled anti-SPAMbot PSA.

The following NOSTR users are bots who follow and unfollow people as a SPAMmy way of abusing “follow” notifications.

They’re not going to change because they’re self-serving assholes.

I have no expectation that any NOSTR dev is going to do anything about this.

Our best option is for NOSTR users to just mute them:

Correction: * other-abusing assholes

Thank you for the PSA, I had to mute these accounts over the past couple of weeks.

I had a few blocked already. Thanks for the list. Are there any relays you recommend that already do some of this filtering so someone can see real people mostly?

I imagine so, however I am not specifically aware of any such information.

I barely have my own personal relay set up and so far the only NOSTR client it even works with is Damus which does not have zaps.

I am using Damus as my NOSTR notification client. I have a few other clients I use for scrolling, posting, and zapping.

It’s all a giant Frankenstein right now.

If you dig into that relay issue and you find anything, please share.

I found when I muted on primal, I stopped getting the notifications. Kinda forgot about them.

I wish that worked. Maybe I should try it on mobile instead of PC.

I think that may have worked.

I DID hit the mute button on Primal for PC. Apparently it didn't "register".

Mute seems to work on mobile but not on PC.

Fuckin bots.

Thank you for your service.

Another to add to the mute list

I appreciate the heads up, but just wanted to say, Dens not doing something about this is a feature, not a bug. We don't want centralized censorship on this protocol, which means we'll have to be responsible for weekday we see ourselves.

I figured out the issue.

Primal web mute button wasn’t working.

Primal mobile mute button worked.

I had assumed that my previous attempts to mute them were successful and that “mute” perhaps didn’t apply to follow notifications.

Muting solved the issue.

Muted long time ago

So annoying

I figured it out.

Primal web’s mute button wasn’t working but I didn’t know it wasn’t working.

Primal mobile’s mute button worked though.
