They usually review name changes same-day now. But I’m convinced they also set a knob per account that limits reach. If the name mentions another social network or offensive term, they dial down the probability of posts being shown to non-followers.
Elon had a pretty heavy hand back when people were still advocating for mass migration to Mastodon or Threads.
If you add a monero address to your profile, people can tip you (and your posts) with XMR too.
Garnet (a fork of Amethyst) has it integrated and my preferred way of saying thanks :)
