Android still allows apps to detect what other apps are installed? That's as much an OS problem as an app problem, assuming you didn't have to consent to some kind of device management profile first.
It's not unreasonable that an app developer would flag a sideloaded version of a password manager. It likely points to problems far more often than it points to people enacting extra-strong security controls or doing legitimate local builds. But it's not reasonable if the OS enables this capability by default.

Wild, I never saw it at this level!
It's true of a small subset of the documents. It could be incompetence. It could also be an attempt to draw attention to those documents or distract from others.
https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/founders-samourai-wallet-cryptocurrency-mixing-service-plead-guilty says they plead guilty to "operating a money transmitting business that transmitted crime proceeds, washing more than $200 million in dirty money for criminals"
5 years is the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed money transmitting business. They could have faced the same even if they did it on paper at that scale.
The number of Nostr sites and clients affected by the Cloudflare outage? A little surprising. Please don’t do that.
In my testing, I don’t have the same problem with all Nostr clients. It’s something unique to the combination of Primal without its privacy proxy enabled and VPN clients. I’ve tried multiple privacy VPNs and multiple Nostr clients. Primal’s web and mobile apps are both affected. And iOS and multiple Chromium-based desktop browsers are affected. (Not tested other browsers yet.) No clear causal mechanism - traffic just stops after a while.
ProtonVPN seems to make a lot of relays unhappy. Using Primal's anonymizing proxy is an okay workaround, but I'm curious about the problem. Is it Proton's lack of Windows and macOS IPv6 support? Or do many relays block VPN traffic?

I have no idea why my videos have no sound, (in some clients, not all), when I upload via #Amethyst, using either nostr.build or blossom.primal.net.
Can someone please explain ?

It's using AAC audio (MP4). I don't think Firefox supports that by default. If your video encoder lets you choose, try MP3, Opus, or Vorbis.

It's so awkward when grandma comes over. And you have to get all her knitted gifts out of storage so she thinks you enjoy them.
Exactly. People still have to trust the software. Since that trust is already established, software could ship with checksums for some later starting blocks in order to allow a more recent starting point.
They usually review name changes same-day now. But I’m convinced they also set a knob per account that limits reach. If the name mentions another social network or offensive term, they dial down the probability of posts being shown to non-followers.
Elon had a pretty heavy hand back when people were still advocating for mass migration to Mastodon or Threads.

My take is rarely a "wow!"
It's more often "well, that explains a lot."
I get a lot of pushy "how soon can we book a meeting?" vendor spam. Would it be rude to schedule them all for a single shared Google Meet each week?
I'm not going. But they can keep each other company...
If anyone isn't familiar with $(), Bash executes the command within the parentheses and substitutes the expression with the command output. AI is testing the script for security defects, but this rm command would run before the tested script is even invoked.

Not having an off switch (ideally automatic, using geofencing) makes me anxious about keeping it installed when not experimenting.
Most of their value is in the larval stage, where they help turtles thrive. Adult mosquitoes are trash-tier. The real solution is laser turrets that destroy them if they stray too far from turtle ponds.
