Step 1) watch atlas shrugged, pay attention to the part where the miners need the steel company to manufacture re-enforcements for their mines and the steel workers need actual steel from the mine to build railroads. V4v.

Step 2) realize that all other media that you have been a creator for, has used yours and millions of other people's content, to sell directed advertisements and only now, 10+ years later they're thinking about kicking some back to you for fear of loosing this revenue from your creations. This was a v4nothing relationship.

Step 3) identify relationships that are mutually beneficial to you and others in the ecosystem and GO AFTEr them. It may take a while but that's the exciting part is we are just scratching the surface of the puzzle and what YOU do this early on is what could drive the next version of the v4v internet. Boosts, memes, zapvertising. Maybe find a project that you love, and market it for them.. all could be very v4v centric endeavors but it's not just gonna fall out of the sky into your lap.

Step 4) or if you just want to have fun, that's fine too, but don't blame it on v4v not working.
