Let me add as a reply to myself (which nobody reads!) the following:
* Being anti-American policy isn't being anti-American.
* Being anti-American policy isn't being pro-Russian.
* Explaining Russia's behavior isn't being pro-Russian.
* Socialism flat out doesn't work.
* All governments suck. Even an imagined ideal government sucks in a way since the whole concept is poisoned. But we must live with them.
* Governments dont' have to suck as bad as they do, they could suck less.
* I care about the people and their rights, all around the world.
I don't have a lot of data on how bad Russia's government is and in what ways, but I've never praised the Russian government and I expect it is a terrible government, just like all of the rest of them.
Some left-wing socialists tend to get stuck in an "America bad, everybody else is good" mentality. I'm talking about Norm Chomsky and his devotees like Aaron Mate, Chris Hedges, and the like. Not so much Glenn Greenwald, but even Glenn to a lesser degree.
I hear ideas from them like Venezuela would be a thriving socialist country if only America didn't interfere. Hogwash. Socialism doesn't work.
When I criticize American policy, I do not intend to glorify policies of foreign states, or the idealisms of socialism (heaven's sake!)
There. Now I have a post to point people to who infer things about my posts that I didn't write nor intend to imply.
Given a choice between people speaking out against what the US Government is doing vs. people who are in the US Government doing it, I could consider the people in the government to be worse on the disloyal or treasonous scale. It has gotten to the point that I have come to terms with the idea that the US Government fell in November 1963, and that we have been living in a zombie nation ever since.
And yes, I know I can never delete that note.
It is a plausible hypothesis. Maybe, maybe not.

Nice, you forgot the “governments never learn from their mistakes, only people do”
Hey that is a good point.
