For those unfamiliar with it, there's literally a 4-minute music video out there from 25 years ago of Christopher Walken just dancing weirdly on his own to Fatboy Slim in an empty hotel.

One of the best music videos ever made. Walken is a trained dancer too.

I'm still pretty sure that era was peak culture. We're never getting back there again.

Best thing that was improvisation.

This was also in 2001. Peak culture, indeed.

Loved that video

Weapon of Choice. Such an amazing video.

Spike Jonze music videos are the best

the flash mob is like a 1990s tiktok

I wonder how many people know the main dancer is Spike Jonze

They also probably donโ€™t know he co-founded Girl Skateboards ๐Ÿ˜Š

It's also Dune related - the weapon of choice is the shocking tone of his voice - second verse is about walking without rhythm to not attract the worm ๐Ÿชฑ

This, once upon a time music was sometimes about things other than sex and drugs.

I'm not a prude against music about sex and drugs but I am opposed to the complete lack of variety in topics we have now.

Idk, that era had plenty of sex/drugs songs too. Just like this era has plenty of literature inspired music too. It's all about our choices.

Recently I've been choosing Brazilian funk so I can listen to the sex and drug fueled beats while still claiming I prefer more elevated lyrics because I don't understand Portuguese ๐Ÿ˜…

This came out the same year as the thong song๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

can confirm that old school MTV/VH1 was peak

"Praise you" is also good. Just a bunch of autistic dancing in a shopping mall, filmed on a budget camcorder (camera phones did not exist). Probably cost them $500 to shoot.

this was directed by Spike Jones.

he has a similar music vid from later on.

It features actress Margaret Qualley, who is also an amazing professionally trained dancer.

i think i like this one even more.
