Running Ghost Addresses...

That was incredibly simple, nostr:npub19tcpurtt6xulhw0r6sc404j9jraj0h8me2lzs7z2tqewz7l0hpas59nlea ⚡👻 And, I didn't have to opt-in to any of the other Amboss services. Thank you.

limited-azure-lizard@ghst.to works great!

I will keep using my pay@derekross.me address, but this is an extremely viable solution. Every home node runner that has wanted to setup LN addresses should look into doing this, if they're not comfortable with the technical hurdles of running your own LN address infrastructure.

It doesn’t support nip-57 zaps though, right?

I’m not sure if it’s possible. I think I read that they are unable to know if invoices are paid or not.

Amboss is not, but Thunderhub is client-side on your node, and it should know whether it was able to unlock the HTLC with the preimage it got from Amboss, right?

We could use a pull request on Thunderhub I believe to achieve this!

Dammit, this is gonna finally get me on nostr:npub19tcpurtt6xulhw0r6sc404j9jraj0h8me2lzs7z2tqewz7l0hpas59nlea. 👊💜⚡️

Is it a paid service?

custom address is paid, random address is free.

Good deal.

Sweet! Does zapping you now go to your ghost address?

I know. V1. 😅 We started sketching it out this morning.

But also, Thunderhub is FOSS. What do you think of a bounty to get it built faster?

i like that idea and people that want it can contribute.

Didn't know this was your node 👀

shhh no doxx.

Pay@derekross.me? How is that accomplished?

running a node at home, LNbits for LN address generation, using nginx for reverse proxy, using Cloudflare home IP privacy, Let's Encrypt for SSL, and lastly buying a domain name. This is why we need easier solutions :)

Oh… never mind…

That may be later down my list.

Your right, does need simplified.

Thank you very much for the how too! Cheers!

Thanks for the review Derek. I have been wanting to get this implemented since I read about it this morning.

you're welcome. it's really simple and trivial to setup.

Can you do this without thunderhub?

Thunderhub is just the first application that supports it. I believe technically speaking, anyone could build support for Ghost via the Amboss APIs.

So not without Amboss. Great 😑

Unless you have your own domain, you'll have to trust someone else to provide an LN address.

IMO buying a domain and configuring DNS records is easier than setting up a lightning node and managing liquidity.

I'm surprised that nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll and nostr:npub1aghreq2dpz3h3799hrawev5gf5zc2kt4ch9ykhp9utt0jd3gdu2qtlmhct haven't already created a simple solution that integrates with installed services. Cloudflare Tunnels or something similar would be ideal.

Oh I agree

LNBits has a few extensions that require a domain (subdomain leases, ln address too I think) and their instructions on the pane at the right side of the app are really good for getting it setup. Simple and to the point.

Besides, when you do it and add a service, adding more domain-enabled services is aasy. Email, file storage, anything umbrel can host (that's appropriate to put onto public dns!)... Can be given a dns name. Nostr verification and other things that use .well-known routes are enabled.

Domains are an excellent tool to have for next gen web protocols as they grow, and they are easier to learn than Microsoft Excel, if we're being honest.

How much does this service cost ?

It's free. If you want to get a custom address, you have to pay.

You mean a custom key, no?!

🙂

Thanks Derek!

how come bos bot doesn’t speak for the ghost address?

I'll have to go back and see if I can get ThunderHub to work.

My last attempt about a year ago it failed to compile without errors on Linux.
