Never thought of it this way but kids have a hard time sleeping if they didn’t run around during the day and adults have a hard time sleeping if they don’t feel exhausted 😴 🤔

Maybe we just all need to feel exhausted to sleep well. Or am I oversimplifying it? Tired parents seem to confirm this.

Maybe you should try running s

around all day

Lol keyboard malfunction

I basically do. I pass out every day without issues.

I've had sleep issues since my first deployment.

I have recently heard that step count plays a significant role in sleep. This specific situation was discussing strength training. The idea is basically: 'yeah you can lift weights, but that alone isn't enough to fatigue you to sleep. Be active as well'.

Almost as if our bodies were made to move us through space...

A good nights sleep is proof of the days work

Or just right amount of wine. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Alcohol really screws up my sleep.

Mine too probably. I’ll keep testing to confirm.

Agreed with the premise. I think you could add to adults that sometimes being over-exhausted doesn't help falling asleep either.

Is this a thing? Never heard

Stress/anxiety negatively impacts your sleep.

I have a 2 year old who has not slept through the entire night for the past month. There is not pattern to her sleeping/not sleeping through the night. Also, there no correlation to her taking a nap/not taking a nap during the day.

In my experience physical exhaustion plays a part in a restful sleep but I would also add a mind that is not busy with thought or over thinking or said another way a quiet, calm mind helps us fall asleep and remain asleep.

Exercise is definitely a first-line treatment for insomnia

Agreed about adult exertion helping sleep. But lack of open loops in your life is even better.

Kids, it depends. But as they grow older, yes. Tire them out. Get them used to the feeling.

I know I need to feel exhausted; I have always struggled to get to sleep, recently I have used valerian root extract and that has helped.
