I would like to learn how to properly process a chicken. I have 3 hens that will soon be ready for process. Anyone in the Houston area willing to teach? There is a farm that does process for you but you need a minimum of 20 birds.

I will do that too if anyone else want to go that route.

We love this guy’s educational videos maybe it will help you…

Hope you find someone! We have done some processing workshops here in Illinois but I originally learned from YouTube

I'm not in your area. A good teacher is preferred, but I learned from videos. It took me maybe 25 birds to really get my process down and maybe a thousand or so to get pretty fast, but they have all been edible.

Just a resource. I own it, I’ve skimmed it. I’ve read it. I think it’s complete. But I have yet to apply it. No livestock on my property yet.

This is an excellent resource. #bookstr

Do you have Firsthand experience using it for butchering?

Specifically rabbit and goat, yes.

Great thanks for the confirmation

No problem. If you’re looking to grab a copy.. Abes has them for around $18. I gifted one not long ago to a farmer with lamb butchering issues.

I’m repost because there’s got to be someone in the Houston area.

Sow the Land has a great video course online. It's how I learned and did it myself. Been processing my own for a little over two years now.

Daniel do you need to buy tools, killing cone, plucker machine, big burners to boil water etc?

I like that the guy on sow the land rents out the Easy Plucker. Paid for its self!!
