I only recently heard of these mixer BTC exchanges where you can erase your traces. Who can tell me more about it?

It's a double edged sword. You can get mixed with even dirtier coins 😂

Many kyc exchanges refuse mixed coins as well.

Look into coinjoin technology.

Oh interesting. Hmmmm. Sounds like a rabbit hole maybe worth dipping a toe in...

If they know who you are, they will nail your ass to the wall. Use your BTC as collateral and you won’t have to pay taxes, or break the law..

Well unfortunately I haven't really had much a chance to stack sats... I'm just investigating and asking questions. I love to do that.

I don't necessarily understand how BTC is taxed but I also have not spent any time researching that as of now. Just slowly entering this world. Wish it'd been faster though rofl

I'm in the exact same boat.

The nailing your ass to the wall part is as much about lawbreaking as anything else.

In all likelihood the pressures against private wallets and mixing will increase quite a bit.

The key is being mobile. Moving your wealth to friendly jurisdictions gives you protection and it puts pressure on those oppressive governments to ease regulations.

Avoid them, you must trust the mixers because, in order to do the mixes, you have to give them your bitcoin!

Better you use the Coinjoin technology and the best implementation in my opinion is JoinMarket even if it is not the easiest one:

https://github.com/JoinMarket-Org/joinmarket-clientserver

Other solutions can be Wasabi and Whirlpool but I do not recommended them for different reasons.

Thank you, for this insight and contribution. I dont really know much about these mixers, so it's valuable to learn more and different perspectives from experienced folks. Someone had mentioned it to me and then I heart nostr:npub1g0587hzzckcncxfm78n0996qe2s58nspy29wf02tqcj5sdzcpj4q6j40hv mention on a podcast that they are being threatened to be made illegal which she emphasized as not a good thing.

Is this the link you'd recommend I start with learning about conjoin?

Diyana, that is the GitHub link of JoinMarket… try to start from there but the implementation is not so straightforward if you are not a bit technical…

There is JAM that is a nice easy interface to use it but you have to deploy a full node, JoinMarket and JAM.

Probably the easiest way is to use nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll OS that gives a full node, JoinMarket, JAM and many other services:

https://start9.com/

Wow... Overwhelming. Definitely not this tech savvy. Though, I bet with a bit of hand holding and human walking me through some of this I'd comprehend and get it fast.

You will… and also with time it will become easier and easier… BTW… with StartOS is not that difficult! 😉

With WasabiWallet.io it's not difficult at all. Just receive, wait, and spend, knowing that all the privacy is taken care of by default.

Agreed!

PS: Whitney is amazing! Thank you for everything you do! 🫂🙏🧡

coinjoins.org has the history of the tech, and explains every protocol and implementation.

You can check out JAM if you're running your own node, or use a mixing service like Samurai or Wasabi

You send funds to the service and it spits out uniform UTXOS lets say 0.1 or 0.01 and you can move that to a new address making it harder to follow, doesn't mean you can't re-dox yourself though

Thank you, very much. Not running my own node yet. Coming back to this topic and thread to learn. Curious what does re-dox mean? English is not my native language? 😉

Lets say you mixed your coins and you moved them to a new address, if you post that public address online or you pay using those coins to a KYC service like a business or exchange those mixed coins can be tied back to you

Wow, that's requiring a lot of tracking there. 👀

You never know who is watching 🥸

I mean and on my/your end too.

So in other words, transacting with fellow self custodies wallets is the best way to transact any coinjoined coins? Is that correct?

And then any p2p purchased coins can have more freedom to flow to businesses? Though, probably still not exchanges if one is valuing preserving privacy?!

Trying to wrap my mind.

I use Whirlpool and Wasabi regularly. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The easiest way to mix your coins is probably Wasabi. It's the most user-friendly.

The important thing is that once you've mixed them, make sure you don't send them all to the same address. I would recommend that you read about the mistakes to avoid.

What is the difference between Join Market - Sparrow - Samourai - Wasabi - Whirlpool and Jam?
