I’m still learning on here. But what I am learning is that this protocol is more about bitcoin than it is about a decentralized social media space (that’s how it was sold to me, which is why I came over). At least that’s how I interpret people who promote only zaps. Would I love zaps on all my notes? Yes. Is that the only reason why I’m posting? No. So whether someone chooses to like/zap/repost, I’m here for the space, the community, and to learn overall 🤷🏻♀️

I feel like if the bitcoiners (the ones that promote only zaps) actually want this space to grow, they need to accept and adapt that not everyone coming to nostr is here just for bitcoin.
There is a really neat service on nostr called #zapplepay so users can set a zap amount to their reactions. I feel like it’s the best of both worlds, but the cool thing about nostr is that currently, each user has a choice to set onlyzaps or enable reactions. The more clients and relays we tinker with, the more control each individual has of their feed and engagement methodology.
Great point, You can choose or not to have Only Zap, at least in Damus it is configurable. In a while ago there was already a debate about eliminating likes and leaving only #zap but as you will see clients maintain both and it is up to the user to activate or deactivate the option.
