Would love to know what it is about my face that inspires confidence in first time moms to share their concerns about how I raise my children.

The latest incident is too long to describe but one of the more ridiculous ones is when a young mom confronted me about feeding my children popcorn.

Agree until the last sentence 🤣 j/k

Everything is gonna kill you so we should just avoid all of it!

Popcorn and hot dogs. There is a there there and it involves the lungs. 🫁 Well, popcorn kernels, not so much the successfully popped popcorn 🍿.

I am aware of this

It’s not hard to mitigate against these airway threats, but nobody learns the real issue…what everyone hears is that feeding these foods to children is akin to a murderous act. Sigh.

This issue comes up every now and then and I get called to figure it out.

Probably because you are the only adult in the room.

When I was a single Dad with a baby I got this a lot. Thus I learned never to STFU unless it was to actually offer help and sympathy, never advice.

"Never to STFU"?

Oh that is rough, I can see how some people may feel particularly emboldened to make parenting comments to a dad. I’m sure in those cases it was embarrassing for the person giving the “advice”. I totally agree with you on the help and sympathy part. Parenting is humbling!

Think nothing ill of it. They’ve not yet learned restraint, but women have helped each other raise kids in village after village across cultures across thousands of years. So, they’re just trying to participate in what comes naturally to them. The rub is that it’s just a bunch of different personalities and tactics that they are going to share, and without invitation. They are likely all well-intentioned, just out of line. Not easy to take, I’m sure. My wife got good at shaking it off. Not sure if she got good at avoiding it altogether, though.

I’m glad I’m not the only one! I think at this point I’m ready for more, bring it on 🤣 In the times it’s happened, midway though the conversation the person giving the advice started to get really self conscious. I could see them rethink their decision to start a conversation 😆

Ma'am because you're very smart and pretty.

I’m a simple woman. If someone calls me smart and pretty I zap them 😅 (pls don’t bankrupt me)
