I mined one for @SweetSats that starts with ‘sweet’ 😉

So how does that work? I wanted to mine an npub for giggles with bfgreen - but the error msg I got said "prefix must be hex, so you can only use the following characters: 0123456789abcdef" that can't be true if you mined "sweet". It was Snowden's npub that made me notice this first.

That’s the difference between a hex key and a npub. There are different requirements but each have certain characters that can’t be used so it can be difficult to come up with a good one.

Also keep in mind difficulty is exponential– 4 or 5 character keys are do-able but every extra character doubles the expected time to mine.

I think I used rana btw, you can choose to mine either hex or npub formats, also you can mine multiple keys at once which is faster.

yeah 'bfgreen' was a bit extravagant and resource intensive. Besides, switching to a new npub pair is a LOT of work for the vanity of a few chars in the npub...

running rana now for fun, noticed that 'b' is not supported by Bech32 anyway - meh!

ooff! #Rana crunching npub pairs is a battery BLOWTORCH! Let's go..!!!

Running this on #elementary OS8 (which I really like BTW)
