Just realized that the people in the thread probably won't read or respond to this, so I'm sharing it with you, instead, dear followers. 🥰

I really need to work out how to do the one-tap zap. I used to have it. The extra step makes me annoyed. Even more buttons to push! Lol
zaps are fun
but may be a big distraction
They're a tip jar and not a substitute for crowdfunding and/or setting prices for your work.
sometimes it feels as if it's the main attraction for nostr, but that doesn't fix the underlying issues (which you often highlight).
It's not the main attraction of nostr.
Probably actually make more money crowdfunding to people spending fiat, since fiat is less painful to spend. But then your product or service needs more universal appeal.
Zaps are cool because they make digital payments easy. It reduces the friction for tipping, which is great for exchanging small amounts for helpful advice, resources, etc.
Zaps can also be used to facilitate online purchases of goods or services.
I don't think they'll replace actual, priced services for content creators and the like. No one is going to get rich on tips, and people are hesitant to spend their Bitcoin while fiat currency is still the coin of the land.
Interesting take.
Do you think it would be difficult to increase that 5%, instead?
Do you think it would be difficult to teach people what being part of the #v4v movement is like?
1) All interaction leaves a record of what you interacted with and fully-anon interaction has less communicative value.
2) Most people IRL are also passive. Interaction is a form of leadership and most people aren't leaders, by nature. (That is not a criticism.)
3) Inactive npubs often find asymmetrical ways to support the active npubs who espouse their views, so the effort of representation is rewarded indirectly.
4) Active npubs know that their behavior is _directive_ and that they are affecting what the others are subsequently exposed to, by changing the available options.
The problem is in not viewing zaps as information and communication. Who wants to communicate a message? Who wants to affect which information is displayed? That person will zap.
If you simply want fee-for-service, charge fees outright.
Thank you for the taking the time to answer.
This is indeed an interesting view on the topic. I will think about that.
