WHATABOUTISM

Whataboutism was a common propaganda tactic used in the Soviet Union.

It refers to responding to an accusation or criticism by raising a seemingly equivalent but unrelated criticism of the accuser or a third party.

Its goal is to deflect attention from the original issue by introducing a new one, undermine the credibility of the accuser by implying hypocrisy or double standards, and justify the original action by suggesting that others are doing the same or worse.

now let's see paul allen's tactics

conspiratwats use this tactic all the time so annoying

What about the ccp?

🫣😅

Russia does this all the time

And now everyone uses it.

And its inevitable because "do as i say not as i do" culture

Yep

On the other hand, it can also be used to fragment events to evade responsibilities in areas that don't suit them.

You give me a whataboutism, I tell you, hey, that's a logical falasy. I will only answer questions pertaining to my point, and my point only. Everything else is whataboutism irrespective of how important that is to you.

Someone's top priority can be someone else's whataboutism, or at least can be labeled so.

If you are going to point fingers, your credibility matters.

Lawyers regularly question the credibility of the the witness/ experts.

When Hillary Clinton offers her opinion on the death of Putin’s rival, I think her resume is relevant.

Whataboutism? Russian doesn't even have such a word, but English does 🤔 Coincidence? I don't think so.

Also US governments... In fact all of them using it. But somehow only russians is always to blame.
