Incredible era for sure. The Professor was a true magician and they played with so much creativity.

Ballet & opera on ice.

And if they hit you, you knew it. Heavy heavy hockey players. Like bricks. ๐Ÿงฑ

Vladdie was ruthless indeed!

Stevie Y is my favorite all time hockey player.

Man, 100%. A great guy!

From that era, my favorite Red Wings were Sergei Fedorov & Nicklas Lidstrom.

Iโ€™m a righties guy. Canโ€™t like lefties. Sorry. Itโ€™s the rules.

I can't pick favorites from that era. The entire team was a unit. Darren McCarty's winning goal, I remember that.

I remember that well too. Thatโ€™s my era of hockey. 90โ€™s

And how have we not mentioned the Avalanche-Wings rivalry yet?!

"What's your favorite memory of that rivalry with the Avalanche?"

The Avalanche was my 90s team. Patrick Roy was my guy.

Roy was the best. Mental game better than any. Loved that guy.

John Vanbiesbrouk is my top all time goalie. I watched every game I could that he played.

I started playing hockey in 96 and both my favorite goalies played for the Cup in 1996. Vanbiesbrouck v Roy.

That's why I wore number 96.

๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Nic is developing & training the next Beezer & Roy for a living. Thatโ€™s why.

We've got two guys in the NHL right now. Working on number 3. He's about 4 years away from his debut.

Amazing!

So cool to know!

Claude Lemieux was despised around the league not just by Detroit fans.

90s era hockey was wild.

Never forgave Messier for busting Linden's face in the '94 finals.

Even then, you could feel the Bettman tilt toward selling the game into the USA. He's still booed by Canadian fans mostly due to his influence on the game. Can't argue the success but it's a different game today then it was in the 1990s.

If Joe Sakic were a righty heโ€™d be my favorite all time player.

But nope. He had to be a fuckin lefty.

Iโ€™d still probably be a Stevie Y guy though.

But Sakic was dynamic.

I enjoyed watching Sakic and Forsberg play together.

Hereโ€™s what nags me.

I know the payers donโ€™t write the dumb fighting script. They want to play organically. I know the coaches donโ€™t.

So who does? Bettman? That twerp. Or his marketing geniuses.

This, this bothers me. This thought.

Man, talk about a walk down the memory lane. Googoo Doll's "Iris" will forever be etched into my memory after the Wings won the cup.

Sorry for the potato quality but couldn't find a better version. It's ESPN's 1998 Montage dedicated to the Wings.

"The Russian Five" 2018 movie

is a fabulous documentary on the rebuilding of the Wings. The city of Detroit embraces Russians (Cold war as the backdrop), as hockey heros. It's a great example of sports transcending global politics.

I'll check it out ๐Ÿ‘

Wendel Clark ftw

Awesome player & passer. Painted the ice red with beautiful sauce.

But I canโ€™t like lefties. Iโ€™m a righty.

Sorry. Those are the rules.

Heโ€™s still got some of the best open ice hits of all time. He was a freight train lol

High skill. High IQ. And a fuckin tank. Tough to beat.

But still a fuckin lefty.

lol
