Proud that we're not building Cashu as a monolith (one mint to rule them all) but instead encourage communities to run their own infrastructure. But there are still so many ways to improve the UX so users can "just use" Bitcoin without having to learn a lot.

Yup.

For my #nostr #safebox project the mint has disappeared into the background.

The users need only care about funds in the unit of account of their choice. They don't even need to know it's ecash.

The mint is just a backend money router.

getting off on the wrong foot (centralized services for "better UX!") almost guarantees a project will never properly decentralize. the early network effects are too strong and the early user profile it attracts is all wrong

Use Mint Minibits in Every Cashu Wallet 😄

Running a mint makes you a money transmitting business, even as an individual

That is true. I think it's worth talking about and finding solutions to out in the open, though I'm not sure if the regulatory side of Cashu is a little taboo here? Or if people here are pretty relaxed and happy to throw around ideas on that side?

I would love to hear solutions.

No magic. Work with a respected crypto-regulating jurisdiction to arrange a bespoke program for regulating mints that respects the nature of ecash to the degree that this is possible given AML and other concerns that any respected jurisdiction would have to account for. And build a layer of legal and software tooling around that.

Unfathomably based
