I don't have a lot of sympathy for most people dealing with Americas number 1 health problem. It only requires an ounce of discipline and responsibility to not fill yourself to excess with junk.

Agreed I have no sympathy for myself because I'm addicted to sugar. It's been like when I quit smoking. It took a long time but finally did it. It's not just discipline but a removal of the source. I have an addictive personality so the struggle continues. I'm getting back on track fasting so this will help

I don't have sympathy for you but I am proud of you. I'm proud of anyone that seems to actually be taking active measures to change. I'm addicted to sugar caffeine and nicotine too. It might not change very soon because to me, I'm in my 30s and still very healthy. I don't smoke ( I do pouches) and while I do eat a lot of sugar, we make real food (chicken, beef, rice, beans, etc) for dinner nearly every day. Sometimes we have pizza on Friday. 🍕

Well pizza is delicious

I chewed for years and smoked and dipped for decades. I still wake up dreaming about Copenhagen lol. It took me a lot to quit dipping and in order to smoked more. Took me years to quit smoking and only did so when my wife was pregnant. Quiting was one of the hardest things I did. I put on a bunch of weight during that time. My mind switched gears and craved sugar as replacement. Now struggling to dump that. I stress eat too and I'm working a new job that I don't have much experience in so has been very stressful.

I'm working on it though

I quit smoking and before I started pouches I didn't have any nicotine for years. I remember quitting was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Maybe pouches would help with the sugar and weight. Although I'd hate to encourage you to get back on nicotine... But I think the pouches are healthier than being overweight.

Nicotine is good for you. Raises T & sharpens focus. Also has health benefits as a binding receptor.

Keep the nicotine. Lose the sugar & weight. Winning. 🏆

Yeah no nicotine for me. I have an addictive mind so I need to stay away. I don't even really drink much anymore and all that's left is sugar. The struggle is real. I did make it 21hr fast today though

I still eat junk roo. I just don't follow it up with a 32 oz soda, bor do I eat massive portion in one sitting. It's not that hard to make a home cooked meal for dinner on most nights.

What's your income, and how many Krogers, whole foods, or sprouts are next to you?

My income is pretty good. My wife shops at Sam's club mostly for groceries. What's your point? We have all the stores you listed. Well the whole foods closed but you don't have to spend ridiculous amounts of money to eat healthy. I think less than half the problem is food quality. It's good quantity that people have a problem with.

Ever hear of food deserts?

Not saying it's the main cause but it's similar enough to the primary issue.

A fair portion of people that are unhealthy/obese are low income, and buy processed foods since they're the cheapest, or most caloric dense, it's a struggle to eat healthy when they infrastructure surrounding you makes it more difficult.

Also many other variables like stress, and impulsiveness, etc.

That being said I do realize it's about choices too but that becomes a hurdle when better choices aren't given to you.

(And yeah I know request the brand in the store, or buy it online, etc. , I'm just offering a different perspective)

I don't think they're a very many places that don't have beef and chicken in their grocery stores

Some regions in The United States, don't even have grocery stores.

That being said affordable, and healthy meat is rare to find, most places either have subpar meats that are more affordable, or expensive high quality meat.

I really don't think low quality meat is unhealthy. Just not as tasty. Dollar general has canned vegetables and meat.

All we need are raw, whole foods which can be found fairly easily.

Of course we can cook them, I meant when just purchasing.

And Kroger is a pretty basic store. It's not sprouts or whole foods at all 😂

For the record, my wife won't be working very soon and I will be supporting her and 2 children on less than 80k a year. We also have a mortgage but no other debt.
