Universal healthcare

If American progressives really want to advocate for this system I really think they should come up here and see what it's like

Working in healthcare, I can tell you that US hospitals deal with bed shortages too. This is in a mid-size city. US has terrible access to care, and something needs to be done about it. Health insurance coverage in the US is horrible. companies suck. You don’t know how many hours I’ve wasted doing prior authorizations and appeals for cheap generic medications. Insurance companies in the US dictate healthcare to the detriment of patients.

Why can't we get our shit together like Thailand, they have quality and affordability and abundance 😭😭

Us system is like quasi universal too and heavily government regulated which makes it shitty :/

Once heard a guy in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡ saying to a group of bragging Americans β€œhere, no one will ever lose their home or become destitute because they fell ill”. That shut the conversation down quickly.

I often wonder if the Suisse model is being studied.

Ask any Ontario doc who has worked in the States for a period and they will tell you we are also a decade or more behind tech-wise.

Yep I do have a friend who worked from Windsor and Detroit

He also gave better care in USA because he was paid more, now he tries to provide care as fast as possible to collect the flat rate OHIP fee for each patient

Another fucked up part of OHIP is that if you have a family doc, cannot get an appointment and opt to use a clinic: OHIP bills your family doctor for the visit. Often times up to the full fee of what the doctor gets to roster you annually.

He can't even access the cure-all that is MAID.

MAID fixes this? 😞
