I'm running default too but it's high 600s.
I’m gonna see if I can set it up to mine on ocean. Should be doable? Haven’t done this in awhile and it seems like there are new protocols now.

I was until their outage, spending time solo mining on ckpool now.
Will probably get a second BitAxe so I can do both.

525 freq/1200 volt is yielding avg of 750Gh/s

I personally max mine out on the predefined settings so 575 frequency and 1300 voltage. Gets between 600-900
Honestly I was too scared to change from default incase it did damage. Is this something I should be playing with?
It depends on the chip - sometimes you win the silicon lottery, sometimes you don’t. I just keep going in clockspeed until it’s unstable, then add power until it stabilizes, and if not start slowly removing clock.
They should at least give you 650gH. At least. I average around 700. With a good cooling solution, you should be able to do this with temps in the 40s.
Best to go with ckpool, imo, if not running your own. I have way less rejected shares.
