If it takes the world 3 generations to evolve enough to reach a Bitcoin Standard, does that change your perspective?

This question was asked on Cafe Bitcoin this morning, because an article was written recently, predicting that it may take 3 generations or 60 years to reach hyperbitcoinization.

First of all, no one can tell the future. Absolutely no one. Secondly, and to me this is the most important response, I don't care on the timeline as this does not change my perspective.

I do not stack bitcoin for Derek.

I stack bitcoin for my children and their children. I invest in my family's future by saving in bitcoin.

Anyone can live a Bitcoin standard right now. Why wait for 3 generations? Make the future you want today.

Waiting for Hyperbitconization, to me, is like waiting for the rapture. Same energy.

Well it’s not feasible for most people to switch yet .

Yet.

Bitcoin audible? 👀🔥

We are just caretakers for our Sats

I stack out of self interest, and for future generations. I want to be self sovereign, and I want to save in an asset that cannot be debased. But I also know that my actions and advocacy for Bitcoin can play a part in establishing a better monetary system for our world - however long it takes.

Are you a monopolist promoting one grand solution, a single asset, to all monetary issues and use cases, or are you open to a decentralized plurality of solutions, e.g. ones that can work when the Internet doesn't?

I’m an advocate for the world’s best chance for decentralised money that can’t be debased.

Rules without rulers. At present, I do not believe any other type of asset comes close to fulfilling this role other than Bitcoin.

Bitcoin's grand unified, eternal immutable surveillance blockchain is centralized and distributed... not decentralized like Nostr.

Bitcoin has a centrally planned rate of supply, artificially fixed in advance, by it's unknown central planner(s). If Bitcoin had a market-determined rate of supply, supply could fluctuate in response to changes in market demand. This is *the* price stabilizing mechanism with any non-fiat good with supply left to market forces.

Bitcoin is a fiat good (by decree - not made up of existing components - 42M could have been decreed just as cheaply as 21M, which doesn't even appear in the whitepaper -- it's an arbitrary number selected by it's central planner).

Okay 👌🏽 You do you, and I’ll continue stacking sats. I suggest you dig a bit deeper because you clearly don’t understand bitcoin.

We plant trees so that our grandchildren will have shady spot on a sunny day. So that they will have fruits ready to harvest each season. So that they will have oxygen and life abundantly. So that they will have firewood to keep the warm in the winters.

Bitcoin is the standard I want to build for my grandchildren’s grandchildren.

If I sow a good seed, and they reap that harvest, my soul can rest easy

Beautiful words - zapped

low time preference ftw.

I couldnt agree more.

No I’m a huge dumbass and will miss out on 3 generations of growth, I’ll be back in when i can’t trade cuckbucks for it

We can also freeze ourselves and hangout with Hal and Fran after hyperbitcoinization.

#Bitcoin has already passed its first decade, which is just the beginning of its childhood for bitcoin, and will thrive next. What doesn't kill him makes him stronger.

Bitcoin is a savings technology not a get rich quick scheme. Can you imagine the stack of bitcoin you will have after 3 generations of DCA?

My grand-kids be all like

it'd always imagine this play.

30 years for all current FIAT politicians to die.

60 for only post 2009 children to de in politics (from today so 74 years after genesis)

100 for FIAT to be a weird shit the grandfather tells about how his gradfather used to live like

Aleks assumes the current fiat system will last until 2069 in that essay. That is a mathematical impossibility. History is also crystal clear. Hard money returns during the birth of a new debt cycle. This is the first time gold has a competitor. CBs have been buying gold hand over fist. They know the cycle is over.

TLDR: we’re nearly the end of the slowly faze.

Bitcoin doesn't need three generations to grow because fiat morbidity gives it a half generation left, maybe.

That would be a waste of time if I'm being totally honest. 60 years of my life without enjoying the work of youth directly is a waste, no matter how much ethics one wants to push in.

I build for my family and their future. Everything I do is for them. Do you not have a family?

Satoshi built it for the world and its future. Everything we do is for it. But let's also enjoy the life it has been given to us onto this world.

Ross Steven’s and Nick Carter said it best. We are dedicating our lives to building a monetary cathedral. One that we won’t see completed in our lifetime.

High time preference behavior for a high time preference world. This is why we can’t have nice things.

Low time preference

Bitcoin Maxipads are monopolistic elitists who hate the idea of decentralization.

It's their grand unified, centralized (distributed, not decentralized) surveillance chain ONLY that all the world's transactions must be appended to.

Suggest a plurality of solutions and be cursed.

#Bitcoin #Maxipads #monopolists #centralization

Uh oh, it sounds like someone hurt you. Here, this may help. đź«‚

Ad hominem, par for course from Bitcoin monopolists who can't tell the difference between centralized + distributed and decentralized. Nostr has laid the difference bare, now you understand what decentralized solutions really are.

You would probably prefer One Grand Unified Relay Database that is distributed over all Nostr relays -- not decentralized. That's Bitcoin.

The only reason I feel like hyperbitcoinization MUST come in my lifetime is because I think I will need it in order to even start a family.

I'm so poor under the fiat standard that it's currently out of the question, and I don't feel like I'll ever win as long as the incentives are structured this way.

We haven't had kids and don't plan on it, couldn't afford them if we tried. It has to happen in my lifetime. Noone to give my bitcoin to when I go.

It may definitely take a while. All of my friends know it exists and that’s about it

This attitude provides peace of mind.

The world doesn’t have 60 years left in it if it doesn’t get on a bitcoin standard. Remember slow at first then fast in the end.

Hyperbitcoinization in 3 generations is so bullish... I would so blessed if I was alive to see it.

Hyperbitcoinization is the great filter. It would be the grandest achievement of mankind by orders of magnitude.

This is why I bitcoin. Humanity FTW.

If people expect things to be fixed in their lifetime, they're operating in a high time preference fantasy land. Unwinding everything AND changing the culture is work. Simply supplanting fiat won't usher in lasting change

damn three generations never mind i can wait, think i want a child eventually 🤓

No, it didn’t change my perspective. Like you said no one knows the future. So each side should be sure about what they are saying.

The reality is, both sides blame each other by pretending of knowing the truth, whatever this is…

I really like to be the spectator on the sideline and hearing each side. For me the Bitcoin side could make sense in the future when it has more time to grow. So I stack sats and don’t buy things I don’t need…

Nobody can know the future, but I have a strong feeling that the 60 years for hyperbitcoinization might be correct. My stacking commitment doesn't change at all. The Internet has started in 1983 (40 years ago). Now, the estimate of people using The Internet around the world is ~60%. I wouldn't then consider it as the hyperinternetisation stage yet. No-one though can say that The Internet is irrelevant or unimportant nowadays. It's the second most important network in the world after electric grid. When we reach the bitcoinisation stage of the modern Internet (60%), all the people you know will know very well what is bitcoin. Majority of them, will be using bitcoin and a big portion of them will be on a bitcoin standard. The future is bright 🌞

If one thing has been shown throughout history, humans are notorious for being caught by surprise by seismic changes of one sort or another. Even when the precursors are sitting right under our noses. Very few expected the Berlin Wall to fall so suddenly, yet it happened, and the signs were likely everywhere beforehand. Very few saw the explosive emergence of the world wide web in 1995, yet a mere 5 years later, it was beginning to explode in usage. And most people in 2005 would have scoffed at the prospect of carrying a small portable computer in your hands anywhere you went, yet 2 years later the iphone sprang forth. Tipping points are everywhere, yet seen nowhere by most people. I don’t think there has ever been an example of a revolutionary tech/societal advance that was ever predicted and expected by the majority. It’s just not in out dna to be good at this. And thank god too, as life would be pretty boring if we all knew exactly what was coming and when.

Am fairly certain that many of the precursor conditions for hyperbitcoinization are in place, and that the tipping points could catch the globe by surprise within the next decade.

I’m here to stay. If the ship goes down, I’m going with it.
