Support told me they plan to add it, but have no ETA. Mildly disappointing, but paying for 6 months instead of one month dispersed the cost enough that I was okay with it in the meantime.

Just to note...proton accept bitcoin payment and an account can be set up anonymously. Their vpn has some interesting elements like, for example, netshield and secure core. Plus they are Swiss so strong privacy laws. Their vpn is fast. No logs, etc, etc...
