seems like most of the games I loved as a kid are now forcing users to install kernel-level software to play:

"kernel level AC is going to be the norm for competitive online games moving forward"

guess I have to stop giving money to these companies then. that's a shame.

Yeah its absurd.

It seems retarded.

I've seen it, and hate it. I try and avoid playing games that require those to be installed :(

Apparently for the new call of duty (I hope I'm not mistaken but I'm not certain) the anti-cheat will require secure boot, meaning some Linux distros will be excluded from dual boot

yeah. the total control and surveillance trend is bumming me out.

All the “anti-cheat” stuff is a loosing battle anyway. They all get cracked. But I’m sure the companies don’t care, it’s a great excuse to basically put monitoring software on people personal computers.

Wouldn’t be surprised us government was in some way benefiting from all this.

waiting on the legendary open-source gaming revolution 🤞

👀

Ah so that's why my battlefield 6 bot needs kernel level patches..

EAC and Battleye actually work on Linux.

Javelin doesn't, as that's basically EA's very own clone of Ricoshit (I mean Ricochet).

Going to need one PC per game. I can't really afford that :(
