I put together a very rough list of gear that may be helpful: https://bitcoinpodcast.net/gear
Also, no need to break the bank on lighting â you can get great results with a budget setup as long as you have proper placement.

Lmao absolutely not
There are other options than OnlyFans. Just ask for more zaps
Hope youâve thought long and hard. You can never go back đĽ˛
yeah, its been a really hard decision that i've been thinking about over the past year.
the problem is that nobody reads anymore, so it came down to protecting my own comfort vs giving the stories we write about a larger platform (and having them be actually understood, as a lot of people will just read the headline and immediately start reeeing about it w/o actually reading the article). I think the latter is more important unfortunately.
Why not do something like Rockstar dev does, where youâre on video but as a silhouette? Thatâs my plan next I think.
I thought about that too, but as a person who has auditory processing issues myself seeing someone speak actually helps me understand what is being said (plus i think it helps in keeping people's attention)
Yeah Lola pls donât dox completely yet, your anonymity has been so useful in the past infiltrating and reporting! There are so many filters for both face and voice that can render you unrecognisable on video
you're getting OnlyFans ?
NICE !
First off, Lola, you'll need to use a Linux distro that's good quality for your hardware, and a local-first setup for your software. Anything cloud-based will be garbage, trackable and traceable back to you.
Secondly, for the camera, you'll want to get a good quality webcam to start, and have a good quality ring light. For the webcam, I'd probably go for a Logitech C920, and for the ring light, I use a UBeesize ring light for my videos.
Thirdly, you need to obscure parts of your face. I personally use sunglasses whenever I do a video on my YouTube channels with a face camera, so my eyes are not shown. I also wear a formal suit, but that's because of the look I go for. Maybe you could do the same, or wear a mask that just has your mouth uncovered if you don't want to wear a formal dress and sunglasses every video.
I'd be happy to discuss specifics via DM if you're interested, as I know a thing or two about local-first content creation (as I've done that for 4 years now).
you stupid bitch the type of setup you use depends on the type of content you make
post a clip of the format of content you want to imitate otherwise any suggestions are a waste of time
the most expensive piece of gear is the room you're in - most rooms are too small to get right camera focal length ... but that depends on your face type too ... if you have a big nose you can't afford to use short focal length but to somebody like Charlie Kirk actually a short focal length ( like phone selfie cam ) would actually look better because of his deformed head shape ...
my advise is just start doing it and change equipment as its deficiencies become obvious
the biggest lighting upgrade you can make is repainting your walls with neutral gray studio grade paint.
the biggest audio upgrade you can make is a microphone arm that gets the mic closer to your face without obstructing your face or getting in the way of your ability to use your hands to use mouse and keyboard etc.
all microphones from major brands that are specially designed for the task are good - the problem is people don't use them correctly, which for the most part means they are not positioned correctly, but also there is technique issues like not breathing into the mic etc.
for sound treatment you might want to try using anything made of foam or fabric and just fill the room with it, especially closer to the corners. just make sure the room isn't empty.
for light you can hang a white semi-translucent curtain behind the camera and hit it with some light to create a large softbox effect.
I aint reading all of that
thanks for the engagement tho
you're welcome.
i am a youtuber and audio-video nerd, but i have never done any live streaming.
anything specific to streaming i can't help you with, but i know pretty much everything related to things like microphones, lenses, image sensors, lighting and acoustical room treatment and if you have questions about those i would be happy to answer.
do not use a webcam. the number one factor in image quality is sensor size. full frame is best. APS-C still good. i would not go lower than one inch sensor size, especially indoors. webcams are usually 1/3 inch or so.
aside from tiny sensor webcams also have too-wide angle of view that is inappropriate for portraiture. that's because webcams are designed to work at short distance while portraits are shot from about 20 feet away, which is why i said the room is the most expensive piece of equipment as most people don't have a large enough room to be 20 feet away from the camera.
people used webcams in the past because it was difficult to set up a real camera for streaming but many new professional cameras are designed to support streaming.
go to a good store like BHphotovideo ( or call them ) and ask which REAL cameras ( not webcams ) can be hooked up to your laptop for streaming.
i would look into options from Sony, Canon and Panasonic.
