Looking for input. Do you like text placement, font and font color choice? Do you like the general layout? Is there enough to the image? Would more background be distracting or fill voids? Would you want to read this book to your kids or grandkids based on the cover?

I like it a lot and would totally read it to my kids.
If I were to make suggestions, it’d be to maybe extend that grassy definition almost to the kids shoulders and put two more chickens in that area, one on either side. Maybe have one be a different color.
I like the font colors and styling - the “kidsteaders presents” is cool because it suggests more books to come.

Would definitely pick this up out of interest in reading it to my kid.
I feel like something might be missing from the upper parts of the cover, but it’s hard to say what, since it makes a lot of sense that you’ve gradiented it up to a more bare area to not distract from the image or text.
I might think keeping it simple but extending some sort of “background noise” like the grass and flowers further up the page is worth a try.
