I remember one winter there was a woodpecker on the ground that I helped nursed overnight since it couldn’t fly. Let it go the next morning felt good.
When I was a kid we incubated a bunch of quail eggs, hatched them, raised them, and then lovingly ate them.

Unfortunately killed 2 birds with one window here. The little one was trying to evade the large one and decided to fly through the large opening that was actually just a really clean window. Little guy died on impact large one lived for about an hour. Cabela’s may be interested.
