Is it a good time to start a bitcoin mining company? Why or why not?

Asking for a friend. I have my opinion/ideas but think other voices would be more helpful.

Depends on how cheap you can get your electricity

Is $.08 per kWh or slightly less still viable?

That's not bad for starters. You would have to work power deals with local companies, demand response. The largest are sub $.04 kWh.

Usually miners have some sort of edge by owning hydroelectric dams, great location or something.

You need a way to get energy cheaper than competition otherwise hfsp

Energy needs? I’m about to embark on a similar journey next month…including moving to a very remote area, establishing a small solar-farm too.

I believe that there’s never a wrong time, btw.

Thanks for comment, and good luck on your venture!!

Ya no. Yo creo que por desgracia ya es tarde. Solo cosa de los grandes. Costo de energía, toda la inversión de ASICs teniendo en cuenta el nuevo halving...

It's going to be difficult for Americans to compete with cheap energy in Africa and South America. Unless you have access to stranded energy which is basically free.

Absolutely! Thanks for comment Jonathan!

I really need to find some stranded energy!

NuScale in Oregon and Rolls Royce both working on SMR reactors that are much lower cost to build, and can produce up to 1000mw of energy. Could change the game on cheap energy that can be built on site anywhere. (About 15 by 30 foot)

Most likely though any energy in the U.S. will be owned by the gov (U.S. army core of engineers) or have so much red tape and fees to deter usage.

That sounds interesting, that footprint is tiny! Pretty cool, I'll look more in. Really fun to learn about all of this energy production stuff.

I know I love it! China's belt and road inititive energy projects are inventing some crazy stuff too
