Is there engagement farming if theres no algorithm to game? A note with tons of responses doesn’t get pushed anywhere its not going to be anyways
Right now there are almost no algorithms. So there’s not really anything to game. Eventually there will be so many different algorithms that it’ll be impossible to game all, or even most of them at once. In the end the effect is the same lack of reward.

Sometimes I don’t realize or don’t see a response for days or until I go back to the note and click replies (notifications not working 100%)
Sometimes I just have a question and want an answer, not a discussion. If it's a serious question, I'll zap good answers. I don't see anything wrong with that
