Welcome Curated Feeds: https://feeds.nostr.band/

Many people believe Nostr needs some new feeds.

Here is one: wss://feeds.nostr.band/popular - all notes with 10+ interactions.

Or another: wss://feeds.nostr.band/meme - some memes, as you might expect (curated by nostr:npub10awzknjg5r5lajnr53438ndcyjylgqsrnrtq5grs495v42qc6awsj45ys7 ).

Add a feed URL to your relay list. Then, if your app allows that (Damus), you can go to Global, switch off other relays, and enjoy the nice filtered feed.

There are also feeds with pictures, video or audio.

And you know what?

You can create your own curated feed, and let others subscribe to it!

It's built around labels, NIP-32. You add some labels to some notes, and our custom relay will then serve the notes you've curated.

There are many approaches to curation, algorithms and filtering. Hopefully, this new tool could help Nostr become more engaging, welcoming, diverse and safe.

No, for such parameterized feeds we probably need some other approach, or at least a very different implementation.

This thing tries to let users perform the curation, relay is just a convenient delivery method - clients could do the same thing without a custom relay, just download labels and then fetch labeled notes to build the feed.

And the /popular feed is just an example.

There is a fee for feed creation. The name space is limited, and our relay will be serving your feed, so I think it's necessary and fair. Besides, you are set as an admin of your feed, and people might start zapping you (i.e. through zap pool in Snort).

On nostr.band there is now 'Label' button under all notes, just add 'some label' to them. And then create a feed at feeds.nostr.band w/ your pubkey and 'some label'.

So this is probably the sickest way to curate your global feed so far. Just added memes, pictures, and audio plus my own relay.

Curated feed is a great feature.

We need great diverse content as well - it is key for Nostr to expand IMHO. Zaps and bitcoin talk will go only that far.

What's difference between filter and nonfilter relay? I know, it's filtered from public, but make any sense to have both relay, or have only one?

When you connect to a relay, you should logically expect you’ll be getting all the notes it broadcasts. So if you already have a connection to a high quality maintained relay, like filter.nostr.wine, you don’t need to connect to a general purpose relay.

Obviously, there are special cases, like curated relays, like the ones Artur mentions in his post above or specialized relays, e.g. the ones operated by your local community, which are not being monitored by the paid filter relay you are using.
