Nothing seems more pointless than buying paper, thoroughly wrapping an object in it, just to have someone rip it open, and throw the paper in the trash.

And yet every product on the shelf is packaged, WHY??
No idea, but gift wrapping something that is already packaged is the clown world we live in
What’s next step in ur timeline? Suicide?
Wtf
What’s wrong with you
My point is commenting on how negative the thought is.
Dude you brought the negativity up 1000%
I did? Bro I literally was trying to comment on how negative the thought process of seeing the pointlessness in giftgiving is.
If you need to bring up suicide to make that point, maybe try unfollowing her instead?
Chill. Bringing up something doesn’t mean that I am for it. I understand a lot of this is a cultural when it comes to talking about certain stuff. I didn’t mean to offend her or suggest something. I was just extrapolating a point with obviously extreme example.
If you’re trying to have a conversation about the gift wrapping, less extreme example is a better idea. Especially when you don’t know the person
Well, now, I agree with that hundred percent. I didn’t expect that my comment would be suggestive of what I said. In the retrospect, for sure I could have used the less extreme example.
I’m sorry if my perceived negativity affects you. Perhaps try unfollowing me 🤔
He doesn’t affect me. I was trying to disagree with your thought process of pointlessness and giftgiving. In Buddhism, there is a concept of taking time to make a a big Mandala, which will just be erased later. The point of putting in so much effort and still learning immediately is that everything is pointless. But if we do things for the sake of doing things. So his giftgiving.
Okay I’m a female and I love giving gifts. I see wrapping as pointless and wasteful. Buddhism also says “do no harm”.
I never asked you to harm yourself. I was just saying that you seeing gift wrapping as a something that is pointless is negative. And I asked what’s next when you go down that path?
What’s the point of rubbing in your body clothes trying to eat and feed it while you know that it’s gonna end one day?
It’s gonna be okay 🫂
Trash bags
Thats all ima say
Hahahahahahaha
One thing my friend did is she would buy like a really nice basket or organizational container to hold the gifts so the wrapping itself could be used and I liked that a lot
I feel the same way about paper towels. Minus the whole wrapping an object in it. Well maybe some people are doing that but you get what I mean.
With you guys all being on the same page about what I said, I think I’m not able to see it now, but I do understand that I went wrong. I apologies if I hurt anybody.
Reusable bags 🛍️
I do this a lot 🫂 feels less ridiculous
This is smart. I’ll have to do this next year. I guess I can put some reusable paper at the top so you can’t see what’s inside, surprise the kids
I have a friend who will wrap the gift in the gifts. She will buy a nice basket, and inside will be a beautiful scarf, wrapped around a vase, etc.
That’s smart. Sometimes as a kid I would wrap some gifts with newspaper or ads from RadioShack. Less wasteful
So much better back then and lol RadioShack
I used to look at that magazine all the time and daydream 😂
Loved radio shack used to just wonder around and dream as well.
Yup and I got all my cell phones there
Such a cool store. It’s too bad it went out of business
It was. I guess it is just the way of things.
Yeah. Got outpaced by Amazon or something else I guess
First Best Buy ate RadioShack and then Amazon ate Best Buy.
Yeah, that is what happened.
I wonder how Amazon gets conquered
Something Chinese. Bigger and cheaper maybe?
Temu 😂
Is the quality any good on that one? 😂
I have yet to try it. I honestly don’t even wanna buy from Amazon anymore because the quality has gone downhill so bad on like everything
Noooo temu is scam city.
AliExpress is legit though. Shipping might take awhile, but I've bought lots from it.
I won’t try either of them. As someone who is trying to downsize not add to possessions, I have no need for cheap plastic fuckery
It's basically Amazon minutes one layer of markup. The Amazon sellers buy from Ali to sell to people who don't know about Ali, making some profit along the way. I buy electronics there for projects. Often it ships from the factory. Gotta cut out that middleman stealing your money.
Yeah I can tell. I was searching for shirts the other day and it was all brands with a name like “hv63bfA” and I’m like “where is all the normal stuff?”
I still can't buy clothes online. Whoever measures pants is a goddam liar I tell you. I need to test them 😂
I’m to lazy to try things on so all my clothes are sweatpants and t shirts lol
Agreed. That’s where I got the handheld console that emulates everything, a few years ago. Shipping was slow but it got here eventually
Lots of fun toys like that there for sure. China DGAF about copyrights.
🤣
😂
Almost forgot about Best Buy 😂
Last I went to Best Buy about 8 years ago there was nobody there. 😂
The last time I was in a Best Buy, I was a teenager and ran there from the movies next door because I had bad diarrhea and couldn’t let my date know
Bahaha my dad would take me there just so I could play. I especially likes those remote control robot bug thingys 😂
Those were awesome. All the remote control stuff 😂
I miss that store
I wish there were still newspapers, we used to just use that to wrap presents. Sometimes we'd decorate the paper more but more often we'd just save the funny pages so it was colorful and fun. Less wasteful and in hindsight feels so retro and happy.
I knowwwww, I loved doing that 🥹 I would color on them too. You can’t even get enough newspaper to start a fire these days 🙄
ive made wooden boxes the last few years to put the gifts in. i think people liked the boxes more than the gifts.
I would be so fucking excited if someone took the time to make me a wooden box
Agreed. I haven't had to buy wrapping paper in ages. I just reuse wrapping paper people use on gifts for me. Gives it at least 2 uses. Or I use paper bags from stores. Some stores might have interesting holiday print on it. Just open it up and use the inside if it's not interesting. Or an amazon box, open it up and turn it inside out.
What I'm talking about:

Damnit. Why didn’t I think to save those bags last time 🤦♀️
Well now you know! At least you're not hoarding trash. But now you can hoard trash with ✨purpose ✨😉
That’s what I learned in the past. I used to be a serious trash hoarder because I love a “project”, but it seemed I never got around to those projects and my house was a mess 😂
I would have actually used the bags though to do this if I had thought about it because that’s super cute and I would probably doodle on it too
I too am a recovering hoarder. So many potential uses and projects for things I'm never gonna get to 😂
I think this is simple and useful enough that it won't cause relapse. Glad you like the up cycling idea!
