I use arch btw and yes, I have a life. The secret is to install and set it up before getting married and having kids.
Me too. Gentoo wasn’t that bad either, but compiling updates was a pain.
Arch is just Linux that doesn’t hold your hand, but doesn’t get in your way either (I’m looking at you Ubuntu)
In Ubuntu's defense, it was my first working box (around 2005, I guess). At that time, I tried everything I could (even YellowDog), but none worked. After getting my first Linux running, in a few weeks I switched to Debian. Maaany years ago. So yes, Ubuntu helped me a lot, but it's not cool anymore.

I built Linux From Scratch once. Actually I had a life, but I was a student. No adult should attempt such a monstrous project unless being paid to, professionally.
