Stop taking landscape shots. Like it or not, vertical has won.
Discussion

See it works. You just took over the entire page worth of replies to your image. :)
this was a tough pill for me to swallow.
iβm even doing vertical panoramas :(
Don't give up π
It's only won because it narrows the area of focus & hyper-concentrates attention. People are weak. For the future of humanity, I will not stop. π
It's also because vain humans like the screen dominated by them when they're taking selfies.
π― One thing enables the other. The portrait, at one time, was an ode to the subject. I think, in physical medium that still applies but it's definitely been hijacked by ego in the digital realm.
Booooo
It has not, horizontal is timeless.
You put horizontal in your photo albums and books, containing the only memorable photos you will ever watch more than a few times.
Thousands of pictures on your phone is not manageable, or easy to share curated ones with your immediate family. Are you really going to spend hours filtering out your sex photos from the family friendly ones? You will never hand over your phone to anyone to it all watch freely.
Taking vertical photos is for a stupid purpose, sharing online with strangers. Nostr will never be the photo app where you put all of your important photos, since the storage of the posts is not to be relied on by design, and you cannot trust the tech giants to store your photos with them instead.
Storage of your photos will happen on internal and external drives on your devices, and they will continue to cause you headache as time passes by. Will the old photos still be compatible?
Therefore, the best and most important photos will be stored in the time capsule that is a photo book and photo album.
Taking vertical photos is stupid!
My family has lots of vertical-only albums. It's better than horizontal.
no. it hasn't. video is usually better in landscape...
and tell people to stop leaning into pictures with each other, they look ridiculous
#smij #zapd #grownostr
hahahahahaha the pic battle has a winner
What about square?
Only nostr:nprofile1qqs04xzt6ldm9qhs0ctw0t58kf4z57umjzmjg6jywu0seadwtqqc75spz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wshszxnhwden5te0wpuhyctdd9jzuenfv96x5ctx9e3k7mf0dv4ph5 likes squares.
Never Surrender π¬ - target the big screen TV and move from individual consumption to groups laughing and sharing together in high quality.
Plus you finally capture that insane thing in the wild and it makes the news with those stupid color fills on the side - epic fail!
Vertical hasn't won. It's just the most common because it's easiest for people who don't know how to take photos and videos. If I see a vertical video or photo, I automatically discount it as low quality.
Then why do I still cringe?
The penultimate issue of our times....
from smart phones maybe
Vertical has won... on mobile phones.
As far as I know, computer screens and TVs are still horizontal.
GM π«
Nobody looks at pictures on desktops and TVs. It's all mobile.
Go to the doctor and let your eyes move one above other instead of side to side.
π
The eye position is irrelevant. You can't see parallax effects on screens.
I'm going to break my NDA with the elite hackers club and give out some insider info: if you orient a phone it'll change the orientation of a display.
π
I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on that.
π«
Letβs just meet in the middle and do squares
real shit
Gfy
Stop attacking users & make switching to landscape when viewing content full-screen, smooth.
:) I think I have to do 2 feeds, one for when the phone is on portrait and one in landscape.. because no one likes to rotate their phones.
whatever nerd
Never πͺ
Hahahhaa. The muppets warned us! nostr:npub1q3sle0kvfsehgsuexttt3ugjd8xdklxfwwkh559wxckmzddywnws6cd26p just posted thisβ¦
Itβs from 12 YEARS AGO!
Vertical won the battle, but not the war. Once we move to VR and human hand ergonomics are no longer a factor, vertical shots just suck
People have been saying VR wins since the 90s. As a person that developed and sold VRs devices for over 15 years, I don't think people want VR or AR devices. Heck, people that need glasses don't even want to wear them...
π― My VR headset is gathering dust. My left eye prescription has gotten worse since getting LASIK years ago, but I donβt want to get glasses. Ping me when Star Trek holodecks become real.
You were just too early
They also say that since the 90s. π
I don't think people will ever really like VR outside games that you play alone in the room. It's a gimmick. AR has a better chance, but since people dont like using regular glasses, they need a different form factor to be worth the hassle.
