remember how you used to be able to take the batteries out of you phones?

Funny how that feature got subtly removed.

Pepperidge Farm remembers

That’s why I was a BlackBerry fan back in the day.

They don't want you replacing batteries instead of whole phones

I think the battery technology advanced so much that it actually lasts the entire span of the phone cycle (two years at minimum) - it's actually quite astounding tbh that they don't explode and charge well and for a long time too.

My biggest thing is overcharging, and it not exploding!

Could be something in that for sure! Makes you wonder about buying a car then too!

you can still do this?

I changed the charging PCB on my Samsung by opening the case using my plectrum and then replacing the part.

You can do this too - the battery pack was right there, well everything was, it just needs a few screws and components to remove.

I spent about 20 mins just ogling at the engineering and design to get all this into such a compact form factor.

Thank God for the industrious Asians.

it's not as easy as it was before, that's for sure.

Speaking of removable batteries, the Punkt MP02 was so close to perfect for me but didn’t support group texts.

Apparently the newer mp02 does pigeon for signal, have you looked into it? I'm aware of the group sms issue tho

Yeah pigeon is cool, but most of the people I communicate with just use group text and their brains are like walled gardens or something similar… like just walls.

Sounds as dangerous as pumping your own gas in New Jersey

I haven’t thought about that in years you’re right that is pretty subtle how they did that
