Hey, plastic disrepectors!

What do you use for toof brushes? This really bothers me. I've seen wood handled tooth brushes, but from the few I've seen, the bristles are still plastic.

What do you use?

Index finger?

That's an option. Not a very effective one, but, yes, an option.

Maybe there’s a market to make something that goes on index fingers. What is the ideal non plastic material for cleaning?

I have a bamboo toothbrush, but the bristles are nylon 😬

There are boar hair bristled toothbrushes out there. I think I'll switch to one of those.

Got a brand I can look up?

Now I'm eyeing their filtered showerhead

Great Granny used a washcloth and baking soda her whole life and died with all her chompers.

Bamboo toothbrushes. Still looking for toothpaste that doesn’t have artificial sweeteners in them.

I'm about to make my own & if everything goes as planned - which I'm bullish on - I can hopefully make enough to sell to passionate people here on Nostr 💗

Connected topic:

I read somewhere study that Xylitol may be basically solving the issues with gums and plaque (and not eating loads of sugar is solving the health of teeth themselves).

As a result the brushing as such is less important then normally. Some stick of wood could be enough.

I've read about xylitol, too. The issue is that most products that have it are also loaded with all sorts of other BS.

I've read about some older methods of tooth care that involved fuzzing up the ends of sticks. A tooth brush is much more convenient... 😁

yeah. It is.

I'm now testing it using standard brush and powder with xylitol.

Seems to be working fairly well but it's too soon to judge. (And not solving your issue)

xylitol, mannitol and lactose all are inhibitors of many common tooth bacterial species, they call them "non-fermentable sugars" and all three can sometimes be found in especially apple ciders, for this reason, as the sugars in apple juice are very fermentable (and the skin of the apple is usually covered in yeasts that do it)

i've seen them made with some kind of plant fibre

i will just say that if you cut out simple sugars and starches your need for brushing drops to almost zero

Products claiming to use plastic fiber instead of plastic are lying 99.999% of the time. At best they have plant fiber mixed with plastic

*plant fiber instead

a toothbrush with a tip that comes off so I'm not replacing the entire thing all the time.

i use silk fibre floss

in my experience, flossing followed by nonalcohol mouthwash works better than brushing. overbrushing or pressing too hard will ruin your gums. I brush where my teeth and gums. meet very lightly after I floss and mouthwash.

Let's open up the discussion to how you care for your teeth!

Fuck using wood tooth brushes… I’ve gotten a fucking splinter from everyone I’ve tried… 3 different brands/types…

That's not fun at all!

Definitely not
