If you could go 15 years in the past and tell your past self 1 thing. What would it be?

PS: It canโ€™t be financial advice like buy bitcoin.

I dig this. I would tell myself to not sow fear to keep me from following my curiosity, even if it means going well off the beaten path.

Stay curious. Would be the motto of my religious cult if I ever start one ๐Ÿ˜‚

Great question!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜

"Self, pay closer attention to the details."

I generally head in the right direction, but mess up and loose out because I'm a 'big picture' guy who skips the fine print...

Think MtGox...๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜œ

I totally get you. Iโ€™ve been making a lot of mistakes like that myself. Need to be more vigilant.

๐Ÿ‘

Best wishes with that!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜†

I would give my past me one book. No need to say anything.

Haha, interesting now I have to think about what book would I give to my past self ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค”

Homeschool and have more babies. ๐Ÿ’œ

Tadpoles.

Lots of tadpoles ๐Ÿธ

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

I suppose thatโ€™s two things ๐Ÿง

Lol ๐Ÿ˜†

I will allow it ๐Ÿ˜‚. Those are very interesting choices especially homeschooling, my girlfriend and I are conflicted on it as well. Whenever we decide to have babies โœŒ๏ธ

Iโ€™ll say thisโ€ฆwe decided 10 years ago for our three kids, weโ€™ve graduated one (currently crushing college) and about to graduate another. One of the best parenting decisions we ever made for our kids. Everyday that goes by gives me more confidence we made the right one. Not for everyone certainly, but perfect for us!

What are the reasons it wouldnโ€™t be for everyone? Time? Career aspirations?

I think some folks just canโ€™t afford to have 1 parent stay home (because life is so expensive) as well as lots of single parents. Some situations just make it impossible.

But as a parent on the back-end of the decision, there are SO MANY blessings that came through that decision. We actually got to participate in their education, knew how they were performing all the time, weโ€™re able to make individual adjustments based on HOW THEY learn, and my wife got to mold them into the character we wanted them to have.

Not to mention we didnโ€™t have to worry about school bullies or school violence.

We put them in homeschool extra curricular activities (sports, dance, co-Ops, etc) to round out what we were doing.

You get the point. Best decision we ever made for us.

Thanks so much for sharing this ser! Gives me a lot to think about.

From an American standpoint..

Probably.

The school system is like a tiny mind prison. Intelligent and bright children are bullied out of their interests, and the neurodivergent are seen as a behavioral issue.

Let alone checking your phone for lockdown situations and praying itโ€™s not their school.

Amen to this!

Stay.

Is that something personal? Or something you could share with us?

Since I could only give myself one piece of advice, I needed to make it encompass many things:

Stay true to myself

Stay present

Stay the course

Stay invested ๐Ÿ˜‰

Stay in the moment

My past self would have been very confused and probably wouldnโ€™t have understood what I was trying to say ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Big one I forgot:

Stay focused

And one more (the personal one):

Stay with him

My grandfather. I spent a lot of time with him growing up and lived with him for a while. He was very wise. A hard man, but generous. I decided to leave and travel. He didnโ€™t want me to stay, as he wanted me to see the world and pushed me to do. I never saw him again.

Iโ€™m glad you had a nice relationship with your grandfather, I had a special one with mine as well.

Staying focused is the hardest, but persistence is the key to any problem
